My take is a bit different from Scarborough: Trump is in melt-down mode and he's going to get much worse. I'm glad Kelly finally spoke out, but, hey, he gets no hero prizes from me. VOTE.

'Reacting to a new report that Donald Trump has demonstrated an inordinate amount of affection for Nazi leader Adolph Hitler, the Washington Post’s Eugene Robinson called out the former president for being “warped.”

MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” kicked off Tuesday by discussing former White House chief of staff John Kelly reportedly having to talk Trump down after he stated, “Hitler did some good things.”

“It's just sick. It amazes me, and I'm sure it amazes General Kelly and amazes a lot of other people. That more Americans, that all Americans don't see this in Donald Trump and don't fear it and reject it.”'

'In an interview with CNN, Kelly recounted how the former president would praise Hitler for his economic record while also saying he "did some good things" despite being one of the worst mass murderers in the history of the world...

Trump also said that Hitler enjoyed "loyalty" from his top generals that the former president himself did not enjoy....“He would ask about the loyalty issues and about how, when I pointed out to him the German generals as a group were not loyal to him, and in fact tried to assassinate him a few times, and he didn’t know that,” Kelly said.

“He truly believed, when he brought us generals in, that we would be loyal — that we would do anything he wanted us to do."'

'How the Corrupt "Old GOP" & Bill Barr Laid the Foundation for Today's MAGA Movement' Thom Hartmann

My words: A feast of history on the corruption of the GOP. Grab a cup of coffee, find a comfortable chair, and read all about it. I lived through this and can only say, how soon we forget. Here's' just a taste of what's presented:

'With nepo-daughter-in-law Lara Trump taking over the GOP, Donald Trump has essentially declared the “old Republican Party” — the party of Reagan and Bill Barr — dead, arguing that it no longer exists in the form it’s taken since the 1970s...While many in the GOP love the nativist, authoritarian turn the party’s taken, others — like former Attorney General Bill Barr — are mourning the loss of the old guard, calling Trump’s actions “despicable” and “nauseating.”

But what is — or was — the old GOP that Bill Barr so loved? While not as openly fascist as the MAGA movement, the Republican Party of the past five decades or so was frighteningly corrupt and based, itself, on lies and corruption.

Just this week, The New York Times revealed how Bill Barr apparently inserted himself into a Justice Department criminal investigation of a billion-dollar corporation for allegedly corruptly hiding their income offshore to avoid paying their fair share of taxes...But helping out alleged tax cheats is just the tip of the iceberg of “old GOP” corruption and lies since the days of Nixon and Reagan.

— They lied that if we cut taxes on the morbidly rich, the benefits would “trickle down” to everybody else.

— They lied that if labor unions were destroyed, “job creators” would create “prosperity” and pay workers better.

— They lied that if “originalist” judges were put on the Supreme Court, the rights to vote, abortion, and birth control would be protected.

— They lied that Reagan’s 1983 decision to stop enforcing our anti-trust laws would make business “more efficient” and create opportunities for entrepreneurs and locally-owned businesses.

— They lied that if we forbade the federal government from negotiating drug prices, consumers and taxpayers would save money.

— They lied that if we privatized Medicare, like George W. Bush did in 2003 with his Medicare Advantage scam, the system would save money.

— They lied that racism was “over” in America with the election of Barack Obama, so if the Supreme Court simply let former Confederate states do whatever they wanted, there would be no more suppression and purging of Black voters.'..

But most important, the Bill Barr old-school Republicans lied that they’d protect our democracy and bring honesty and integrity to American politics. Barr’s own history is probably the best example of how dangerous and destructive that lie has been.'

My words: Well, well, well, looky here, folks. Anyone surprised?
