StarfishSaver's JournalBREAKING: Barr orders federal executions to resume after two-decade hiatus
These people are evil to the bone.
Attorney General William P. Barr ordered the Bureau of Prisons to schedule executions for five inmates currently on death row. The prisoners were convicted of murdering children.
The last federal execution was in 2003. In the years since, there has been an informal moratorium on executions of federal prisoners, as Justice Department officials reviewed its lethal injection procedures. That practice was underscored during the Obama administration by then-Attorney General Eric Holders personal opposition to the death penalty, even while he approved prosecutors decisions to seek the death penalty in specific trials.

BREAKING: Judge blocks asylum policy at US-Mexico border
Wednesdays ruling by U.S. District Judge Jon Tigar in San Francisco came hours after a judge in Washington decided to let the rules stand while lawsuits played out in court.
The policy would prevent most migrants from seeking asylum in the U.S. if they passed through another country first.
It targets tens of thousands of Central Americans who cross Mexico every month to try to enter the U.S. It also would affect asylum seekers from Africa, Asia and South America who arrive regularly at the southern border. https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/courts_law/the-latest-judge-blocks-asylum-policy-at-us-mexico-border/2019/07/24/153fe07e-ae6c-11e9-9411-a608f9d0c2d3_story.html
If you're disappointed by the Judiciary hearing but believe the Intelligence hearing was great
shouldn't that tell you that consolidating all of the investigations into a single impeachment proceeding in the Judiciary Committee right now may be premature?
"Hearing was a failure on optics" from same people who said "Hillary won debate on substance
but Trump won on style."
And the same people are also claiming that the fact that Trump, his lawyers and his kid are crowing about how well the hearing went for them means the hearing went well for them.
Much of the public opinion of today's hearing will be shaped by the initial responses online
So it would be helpful if we on DU didn't validate some of the most negative media handwriting and, instead, helped inform the public how Mueller reinforced the findings of his report, to wit: Russians interfered with our elections in order to benefit Trump, Trump willingly and knowingly accepted that help, when an investigation commenced into that interference, he repeatedly tried to obstruct the investigation.
If you want Trump impeached, don't play into Republican hands. Help the Democrats shape and communicate the message. They can't do it alone and they certainly can't do it effectively if chunks of the Democratic online community are grousing, criticizing and stomping all over the message.
Please, people - let's stay focused and on message!

If Pelosi had the the power to force 100+ Democrats to support impeachment over their objection
wouldn't she also have the power to force the Democrats who are calling for impeachment to shut up already if she really wanted to take impeachment "off the table"?
Let's be real. If, as some keep claiming, Pelosi really wanted impeachment "off the table," and she's as powerful as they insist she is (at least powerful enough to force the vast majority of her caucus to vote her way just by telling them to, even if they don't want to), why hasn't she shut down impeachment talk and why is support in the caucus for impeachment growing, not lessening?
If you think Pelosi has the power to force a majority of her caucus to support impeachment, if you're honest, you must agree she has the power to force a minority of her caucus to STOP supporting impeachment. And the fact that she hasn't done the latter means either she doesn't want them to back off of pushing for impeachment or she can't force a majority of her caucus to support it. Or both.
You can't have it both ways, folks.
Did I miss the "Do Republicans risk making total asses of themselves" at Mueller hearing stories?
Because all I see are "Do the Democrats risk overplaying their hands?" and "Will the Democrats perform absolutely perfectly in every way and if they don't, how much self-inflicted damage will they suffer?" stories - even though we all know the Republicans are going behave like complete fools, and do their best to turn the hearing into a circus and preventing the public from gathering any information.
Did I miss all the stories putting any responsibility on or raising questions about the Republican committee members?
White Woman Caims She Invented the Hair Bonnet
https://theglowup.theroot.com/white-woman-claims-she-invented-the-hair-bonnet-black-1836603944In an article with Fashion Magazine, entrepreneur Sarah Marantz Lindenberg claims she came up with the idea of a washable silk head wrap that prevents breakouts and preserve hairstyles.
My concept came out of a problem that needed solving, explained Marantz, who founded the company, NiteCap, to sell her so-called invention that was already being used by millions of black women every day. It inspired me to create something of my own.
What she created was basically a version of the same headwrap that has been included in the late-night booty-call kit invented in 1906 by inventor Madame CJ Walkers less successful sister, LaKeisha Walker. To be fair, the difference between Lindenbergs bonnet and the one worn by Erykah Badu, India.Arie and 92.8 percent of the women who have ever been on a natural hair journey is that Lindenberg sells her bonnets for $98
...
Needless to say, after a lengthy vote, Black Twitter decided that her white nonsense was grounds for a vicious roasting.
