North Korea's Supreme Leader/dictator Kim Jong-un has reportedly died, or is on his death bed with no hope for recuperation -- according to media outlets in China and Japan.
Amid reports China has sent a medical team to their communist neighbors this week to check in/advise on Kim, a Hong Kong-backed news channel's vice director -- who's apparently the niece of a Chinese foreign minister -- blasted out the news herself ... he's dead. TMZ has not confirmed that.
The woman put the report on a social media app called Weibo for her nearly 15 million followers to read, citing a "very solid source" about the claim Kim had, in fact, perished. A Japanese magazine reports he's in a "vegetative state" after a heart surgery gone wrong.
The outlet reports -- citing a Chinese medical expert privy to the situation -- that Kim had clutched his chest in early April and fell down while visiting the countryside there. He needed a stent procedure done, but apparently ... it either wasn't done rapidly enough, or it was botched completely by the surgeon -- with some reports saying he had shaky hands.

U.S. Supreme Court refuses to block Trump immigration policy during pandemic

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. Supreme Court on Friday rejected a long-shot bid by New York and two other states to suspend during the coronavirus pandemic a Trump administration immigration policy that denies legal permanent residency to certain immigrants deemed likely to require government assistance in the future.
The court turned away New York’s request, which was joined by the states of Connecticut and Vermont as well as New York City, with none of the nine justices publicly dissenting.
The states argued that the regulation is hindering efforts to combat the spread of the coronavirus “by deterring immigrants from accessing healthcare and public benefits that are essential tools for protecting the public.”
The immigration rule has been criticized by immigrant rights advocates as a “wealth test” that would disproportionately keep out non-white immigrants. It is part of President Donald Trump’s hardline immigration policies.

Divided Supreme Court rules for Trump administration in requiring immigrant's removal

The U.S. Supreme Court on Thursday upheld a lower court's decision that an immigrant with lawful permanent resident status cannot fight deportation due to a previous offense, even though that crime was not grounds for his removal.
In a 5-4 ruling with conservative justices on one side and liberals on the other, the court ruled for the Trump administration in holding that the statute in question, as drafted by Congress, requires deportation in the case of Andre Barton, even though the assault offenses that prevent him from appealing were not enough to deport him in the first place.
"Removal of a lawful permanent resident from the United States is a wrenching process, especially in light of the consequences for family members," Justice Brett Kavanaugh wrote in the court's opinion. "Removal is particularly difficult when it involves someone such as Barton who has spent most of his life in the United States. Congress made a choice, however, to authorize removal of noncitizens— even lawful permanent residents—who have committed certain serious crimes. And Congress also made a choice to categorically preclude cancellation of removal for noncitizens who have substantial criminal records. Congress may of course amend the law at any time. In the meantime, the Court is constrained to apply the law as enacted by Congress."
The controversy deals with an immigration law that allows defendants to apply for cancelation of deportation, but only if they satisfy certain requirements, including not having committed a particular offense within their first seven years of continuous residence in the U.S. This limitation, known as the "stop-time rule," refers to offenses that render individuals inadmissible or deportable. Barton, who is being deported for drug and firearms offenses, had committed aggravated assault offenses during that seven-year period, but those offenses did not qualify for deportation.

WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump said he disagrees with Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp's decision to move quickly to reopen parts of the state's economy, but said the final call belongs to the governor.
"I told the governor of Georgia, Brian Kemp, that I disagree, strongly, with his decision to open certain facilities,” Trump told reporters, saying the state's coronavirus case numbers don't meet the threshold needed to reopen under the White House's guidelines.
At the same time, Trump added, Kemp "must do what he thinks is right."
Kemp said he appreciated Trump's critique – and praised his "bold leadership and insight during these difficult times" – but would stick with a plan in which businesses re-open carefully with restrictions designed to limit the spread of the coronavirus.

I was talking to my friend who's a fairly high ranking NYC law enforcement officer about Covid-19
He said it's much worse than anyone is reporting. He said the elderly are dying at a crazy rate, and a huge amount of them were never tested, which means they aren't counted in official Covid-19 deaths. After interviews with their families, he said he is almost certain they died of Covid-19, as they had all of the symptoms.
He also said that where he works he works (Bushwick, Brooklyn) many people are doing business as normal. It's so sad.

WWE Hall of Famer Howard Finkel Dies at Age 69

WWE announced Thursday that legendary Hall of Fame ring announcer Howard Finkel died at the age of 69.
"The Fink" debuted as a ring announcer for WWE (then known as WWWF) in 1977 and became a full-time announcer in 1979. He continued in that role into the 2000s before transitioning into a part-time announcing position and primarily working for WWE in a behind-the-scenes capacity.
Finkel was honored for his many contributions to the professional wrestling business in 2009 when he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.
When the WWWF became the WWF in 1980, Finkel was the company's first employee. WWE Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon recognized him for that and his other accomplishments in a tweet Thursday:

Who here remembers Michele Marsh from CBS Channel 2 in NYC in the 80's?
Long story short, I was surfing YouTube and was going through suggested videos, and saw one that said CBS News 1985. I had to click on it, because when I was a kid, my mom always had the news on, and loved CBS especially. I remembered Michele Marsh, Roland Smith, Mr. G, and of course the legendary Warner Wolf.
Even though I was like a kid when I started watching, I basically grew up with this crew, and always liked them all. I decided to look them up, and to my astonishment, I read that Michele Marsh had passed away on October 17, 2017, at the age of 63. I am so sad to have learned this, I wish I could followed her work before she died, as I hadn't seen her since 1995 or so.
Anyway, here was the video that made me search for her. Very nostalgic and awesome, but at the same time sad. Enjoy.

WASHINGTON – Anthony Fauci, the health care policy expert under fire from allies of President Donald Trump, said Monday he used a "poor choice of words" when he suggested lives could have been saved had the Trump administration put in place coronavirus restrictions earlier in the year.
In an interview Sunday on CNN's "State of the Union," Fauci was asked if lives could have been saved had social distancing been imposed during the third week of February instead of mid-March. Fauci said, "It's very difficult to go back and say that. I mean, obviously, you could logically say that if you had a process that was ongoing and you started mitigation earlier, you could have saved lives. Obviously, no one is going to deny that."
Fauci said, "What goes into those kinds of decisions is – is complicated. But you're right. I mean, obviously, if we had, right from the very beginning, shut everything down, it may have been a little bit different. But there was a lot of pushback about shutting things down back then."
Fauci denied that Trump forced him to make the statement, telling reporters that "everything I do is voluntary ... Please ... Don’t even imply that.”

(CNN)Former Vice President Joe Biden and President Donald Trump spoke by phone on Monday about the response to the coronavirus pandemic, two sources familiar with the call and a White House official tell CNN.
The phone call is a rare moment of direct communication between the two political rivals. Trump has harshly criticized Biden for months, and his efforts to pressure Ukraine into opening an investigation into Biden and his son, Hunter Biden, was the catalyst for launching impeachment proceedings against the President.
Biden has criticized Trump's handling of the coronavirus pandemic, saying the administration was too slow to address the crisis. He has also said that Trump should stop talking and listen to experts.
"Vice President Biden and President Trump had a good call. VP Biden shared several suggestions for actions the Administration can take now to address the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and expressed his appreciation for the spirit of the American people in meeting the challenges facing the nation," Biden deputy campaign manager Kate Bedingfield said in a statement.
