Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said on Thursday that the Trump administration supports another round of stimulus payments.
"We do support another round of economic impact payments," Mnuchin said during a CNBC interview, referring to another name for the stimulus checks. "We can get that into hard-working Americans' bank accounts very, very quickly. The level and the criteria, we'll be discussing with the Senate."
The remarks from Mnuchin represent a shift in the administration's position on a second round of direct payments. Last month, Mnuchin said the White House would "seriously look" at the prospect of additional government checks for Americans.
And earlier this week, White House chief of staff Mark Meadows signaled the White House could get on board with more stimulus checks.

The article also said Mitch hinted at a $40,000 a year cutoff, which differs from the first found of checks with caps on those making over $75,000 a year.
Today there were two major 7-2 Supreme Court decisions
In one they let employers opt out of birth control coverage, and in the other they said that discrimination laws don't apply to teachers in religious schools.
In both cases, the conservative Justices were joined in the majority by Stephen Breyer and Elena Kagan. Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Sonia Sotomayor dissented in both.
I love Breyer and Kagan, but two in one day is a little surprising. Does anyone know why they dissented? The cases seemed pretty clear cut.

Frederick Douglass statue vandalized in Rochester park
Source: Associated Press
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) A statue of abolitionist Frederick Douglass was ripped from its base in Rochester on the anniversary of one of his most famous speeches, delivered in that city in 1852.
Police said the statue of Douglass was taken on Sunday from Maplewood Park, a site along the Underground Railroad where Douglas and Harriet Tubman helped shuttle slaves to freedom.
The statue was found at the brink of the Genesee River gorge about 50 feet from its pedestal, police said. There was damage to the base and a finger.
In Rochester on July 5, 1852, Douglass gave the speech What to the Slave is the Fourth of July, in which he called the celebration of liberty a sham in a nation that enslaves and oppresses its Black citizens.

Trump-backed five-term Republican lawmaker loses primary to challenger who praised QAnon conspiracy
Source: CNN
(CNN)A five-term Republican congressman endorsed by President Donald Trump conceded his primary reelection bid in Colorado's 3rd Congressional District on Tuesday evening, a stunning upset that will vault his far-right challenger, Lauren Boebert, into the state's general election.
"3rd District Republicans have decided who they want to run against the Democrats this November," Rep. Scott Tipton said in a statement Tuesday evening. "I want to congratulate Lauren Boebert and wish her and her supporters well."
"Congressman @ScottRTipton is a great supporter of the #MAGA Agenda! He fights for your #2A rights and the Border Wall," the President tweeted on Monday. "Scott is working hard for Colorado and has my Complete and Total Endorsement! #CO03."
A staunch Second Amendment advocate, Boebert owns a local restaurant, Shooters Grill, made famous for encouraging its staff to open carry. She recently defied public health orders to reopen the restaurant during the coronavirus pandemic. Boebert also made headlines last year for confronting former Democratic presidential candidate Beto O'Rourke over his call for for a mandatory gun-buyback program of assault-style rifles.
