Does believing that abortions should be illegal disqualify a person from being a Democrat?

A true Democrat, that is, not a legally registered one.

Just wondering what beliefs are outside the realm.

I, for one, believe in a woman's right to choose, that fetuses are not persons and therefore have no legal (nor moral, for that matter) rights... but I AM in favor of the death penalty in particular circumstances.

Things that make you go HMMMM

A couple of days ago I was driving back to Louisiana from North Carolina, and listening to Sirius as I usually do on such a long trip. Anyway, Howard Stern was replaying an interview with Sia, best known for the hit songs "Chandelier", "Titanium", "Diamonds", and for her breakthrough song "Breathe Me" in Six Feet Under's closing scene.

Well, this morning I got to wondering how David Ball chose "Breathe Me" as his closing moment to such a landmark series, considering that Sia was really an unknown at the time. So, a couple of web articles later, and with a better appreciation of how it was chosen, I replayed that scene a couple of times on YouTube, and got choked up all over again.

Anyway, after asking myself "why am I doing this to me?" I shut that down and walked over to the gym... turned on the TV to accompany my elliptical routine... the Kelly Clarkson Show was on... and guess what song Kelly was singing?

In all honesty, it didn't make me go HMMM, although it did cause a chuckle. I do NOT wonder about coincidences. A lot of other people take them as messages from some higher power, etc., but I am certain that this world would be much much stranger, with far more evidence for a creation plan, if they didn't happen at all.

Arizona audit results will be delivered to Senate today, and the report will be earth-shattering

So I hear.

A certain little pundit from the gateway told me. LOL

Wendy Rogers has got me thinking.... do dumber people enjoy life more or less

than the more intelligent?

"I love the poorly educated".

As I travel to distant places it occurs to me that as a history buff I can better appreciate the current states and people of the locales. As I watch movies and read books it occurs to me that as someone reasonably well read I can better appreciate allusions to other literary or artistic works. As I watch the news it occurs to me that as a fan of physical, political, and economic sciences I can better appreciate the causes and consequences of current events.

59% of Republicans think colleges are bad for America.

Yesterday I was walking here in Charlotte along a beautiful, mostly quiet boulevard, and twice some motorcyclist blew past, their machines equipped to as loud as they can be, and it occurred to me that their joy in loud nuisances is about as simple a pleasure as one can get... requiring very little creativity or effort.... but yet it is pleasure, nevertheless. Why read a book to pass the time? Why bother to learn the history of Barcelona beforehand when it's so easy and so much fun just to go there and drink and eat?

Is stupidity a blessing?

Should English spelling be reformed?

I mean, it's just ridiculous, isn't it?

How to spell that thing with gills that swims in the sea? ghoti

Imagine all the grief we could spare our children and others who want to learn the language.

"Chernobyl" just might be the greatest thing I've ever seen on TV

Just finished it.

Horrifying. Harrowing. And so very suggestive of what might happen with any government left unchecked.

Bravo to HBO, who surpassed even their own usual stratospheric standards.

Mostly, though, bravo and thanks to all those brave people who gave their lives at Chernobyl to head off what surely would have been the greatest man made disaster in history.

Going too far with the statue removals?

Charlottesville abruptly removes monument to Lewis and Clark (whereupon Sacajawea is also depicted, crouching behind them as a tracker).
