MrPurple's JournalThe best Al Franken interview
In case people weren't aware of it, just thought I'd post a link to Marc Maron's interview with Al Franken from a couple weeks ago. Al did a bunch of interviews for his book, but Maron's one of the best at getting people to talk and this one is nice because it gets more off of his prepared material and goes deeply into his career in comedy and his childhood & Maron worked with him at Air America.

McCain's questions to Comey sucked
I've been hoping that he's the Republican Senator with a sense of duty to country that is concerned about Putin and would most pursue Trump's collusion/obstruction. But, his questions of Comey today were awful. All he talked about was Hillary's email investigation and rambled in a practically senile way about why she isn't still under investigation if the Russians tried to influence the election and she was a part of the election.
They had Comey's statement in advance, I thought he'd have some solid questions that might delve into things. The questions I heard him ask near the end of the session were lame. Any random educated citizen could have done a better job.
Really good long interview with Al Franken on NPR/Fresh Air
This aired today and it's a fun, in depth discussion. It lasts for about 45 minutes.

Links between timing of Wikileaks release on CIA & Trump's allegations against Obama?
I haven't read much news today and don't know if any pundits have commented on this. But, doesn't it seem like the Wikileaks release about the CIA could be coordinated with Trump's allegations that he was being wiretapped? Wikileaks was strategically releasing info. during Trump's campaign and this seems perfectly timed to distract people from the allegations against Trump, and to undermine confidence in the CIA, who are the ones who likely have the info. on the Trump campaign's coordination with Russia.
Given what was already leaked about the NSA, it's not surprising that the CIA accesses people's devices. But, the fact that a our chief adversary is likely now coordinating with the President to undermine our intelligence services is absolutely chilling.
Olbermann: Are these people high, or what?
I used to find Keith's rhetoric a little too over the top, but he has the perfect tone for the present level of absurdities.

If the immigration ban was only going to be for 90 days...
while Trump's policy geniuses created better screening procedures than the ones that have allowed 0 terrorist incidents ever from those 7 countries, why don't they just use those 90 days while the ban is held up in the courts to create their great new plan?
They won't, because the whole thing is bull$hit.
Trump changes counterextremism program to ignore violent white supremacists & focus only on Islam
http://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-trump-extremists-program-exclusiv-idUSKBN15G5VO
The Trump administration wants to revamp and rename a U.S. government program designed to counter all violent ideologies so that it focuses solely on Islamist extremism, five people briefed on the matter told Reuters.
The program, "Countering Violent Extremism," or CVE, would be changed to "Countering Islamic Extremism" or "Countering Radical Islamic Extremism," the sources said, and would no longer target groups such as white supremacists who have also carried out bombings and shootings in the United States.
