by Andrew Kirell | 10:11 pm, January 2nd, 2015
A 52-year-old South Carolina man received a severely bloody beating on New Years Eve after allegedly raping his nephews girlfriend. The results of the entire ordeal were made public on the local police departments Facebook.
According to Conway Police Department, William L. Mattson was arrested and charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct after he was caught allegedly engaging in non-consensual sexual activity with his nephews girlfriend.
The injuries sustained in the below mugshot were from someone acting in defense for the victim, i.e., they came from the nephew, who beat his uncle to a bloody pulp after catching him red-handed.
The boyfriend will not be charged with any crimes.

Obama May Not Be the President Progressives Hoped For, But He's Still Getting Lots Done
By Steven Rosenfeld / AlterNet

What a difference six years makes! When Barack Obama was elected president in 2008, people were literally dancing in the streetsas was the case in Philadelphia. Today, as Obama appears to be finding new muscles to flex in office, a great many of his earliest enthusiasts, who have been disappointed for years, are wondering if the candidate they believed in is coming to life.
High office shouldnt be about putting points on the electoral scoreboard, it should be about changing the country for the better, wrote economist Paul Krugman in Rolling Stone,in a high-profile piece reconsidering and defending Obama's presidency. Has Obama done that? Do his achievements look likely to endure? The answer to both questions is yes.
Krugmans judgment came before Obama announced sweeping executive actions on immigration, protecting from deportation 40 percent of undocumented immigrants and single-handedly overturning five decades of anti-Cuba policy. Other positive assessments have ensued, causing speculation about a new and more powerful Obama.
Obama seized the agenda, saw his initiative dominating the front pages and television news discussions and sent Republicans in Congress scrambling, wrote the Washington Posts Paul Waldman, about the Cuba initiative. This could well be the template for much of the next two years.

Definitely not enough credit given to this president! Our Corporate Media can bitch all it wants, but the historians will acknowledge the Republicans' obstructionism---most of it rooted in racism---and give Obama at least a B+, if not an outright A.

Hillary Will Be the Democratic Nominee for the Presidency in 2016
(Newb deliberately posting late at night so as to avoid eviscerative flaming. Just for the record. On the off-chance that some Whiteglove hasn't gotten me booted in the interim, I will kick this on the night of Secretary Clinton's acceptance speech at the convention. She has the money, the party establishment, and Bubba behind her. And although I'd love to teleport Sanders directly into the Oval Office, neither he nor Warren has the charisma that propelled Obama to Denver---and then DC---in 2008. Hillary Rodham Clinton will be the next President of the United States, like it or not.)

CLEVELAND The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office has classified the November death of a 37-year-old woman who was in police custody as a homicide.
Tanisha Anderson died Nov. 12 at hospital after being handcuffed, taken into custody by Cleveland police and then losing consciousness while having a mental-health episode.
Relatives said the 37-year-old was schizophrenic, and they claimed an officer used excessive force.
According to the medical examiner, Anderson's death was caused by a "sudden death associated with physical restraint" in a lying face-down position. The medical examiner also cited her heart disease and bipolar disorder.

Funeral for Transgender Teen Leelah Alcorn Moved Because of 'Threats'
Source: NBC News
The funeral for an Ohio transgender teen whose death and suicide note struck a chord across the country was moved Friday and held privately after threats against the family. Leelah Alcorn, 17, died Sunday after writing in an online diary that her parents didn't accept that she identified as female.
Tim Tripp, the family minister at Northeast Church of Christ in Cincinnati, told NBC News the funeral had been moved to a private location because "the times and dates had been publicized, and the family's received threats." Tripp wouldn't specify what threats surrounded the funeral, other than to say the family had heard there would be "disruptions." Mourners arriving at the church Friday found a sign on the door announcing the service's postponement. Jeff Hartmann, of Hodapp Funeral Home, said the private service was held there Friday morning. He said Alcorn's body was to be cremated.
The teen's death sparked petitions calling for her gravestone to have the name Leelah, instead of the name Joshua, which she was given at birth. Another petition, which had garnered more than 200,000 supporters by Friday afternoon, called for a ban of conversion therapy, which Alcorn said her parents had sought for her.

Promoters say Bill Cosby's Canadian shows will happen

TORONTO (AP) The promoters of Bill Cosby's three shows in Canada next week said Friday the comedian's representatives informed them he has "every intent" to do them and they are legally obligated to put them on.
Chicago-based Innovation Arts & Entertainment said in a statement they understand the decision is unpopular but that both they and the venues are obligated to proceed and that "we would face crippling legal obstacles for violation."
More than 15 women have come forward since November claiming to have been drugged, sexually assaulted or both by Cosby, who has never been charged in connection with any of the allegations. As controversy has grown, Cosby's scheduled Netflix concert special was canceled and NBC scrapped a new Cosby sitcom in development.
The 77-year-old Cosby is scheduled to appear at the Centre in the Square in Kitchener, Ontario, on Jan. 7; at the Budweiser Gardens in London, Ontario, on Jan. 8; and at Hamilton Place Theatre in Hamilton, Ontario, on Jan. 9.

I'll admit to being one of the dwindling number of people still hoping against hope that the accusations aren't true.
