Can someone explain to me the appeal of "self driving cars"?

Aside from the obvious sexual deviants I mean.

Granted driving is not the thrill it was when I was 16, but I honestly can’t come up with a situation where I would not want someone to actually have their hands on the wheel while the vehicle is in motion. Tik Tok idiots filming themselves doing stupid things are a minority, I’m thinking.

Is there actually some large population slice out there that is looking forward to trusting this to tech?

True Americans open their homes to those in need.

It’s who we are. No Republican would do likewise.

Reading through the Jan 6 committee report

Not quite out of “The Big Lie” section completely, and something leaps out at me.

There are doctors and nurses who are anti-vaxxers. So I’ve made my peace with the fact that
“book-smart” folks can be incredibly stupid otherwise.

Part of the report reads like this, his advisors tried to humor him, but eventually were compelled by reality to bring him the truth. He’d listen, make nice, nod and agree, then the next day or so, he’s out there spouting deep Qanon bullshit. So in between the time he was getting briefings, and his next public appearance, was he diving deep into Qanon rabbit holes?

Not discounting the potential for man to be innately evil, but it appears to me that he was drinking deep, and at some point the fantasy eclipsed reality.

I’m getting the same vibe from Kari Lake.

Am I the only one who detests Bluetooth?

Dropped signal. Poor sound quality. Inability to pair reliably.

I get the convenience, but the frustration factor far outweighs the “convenience” of Bluetooth.

RE the Asian massage parlor incel

I don’t wonder at all that the first reports had him as a “good church going boy”. The truth is that if he’d just been frequenting prostitution places without the guilt trappings generously ladled on with the “good religious upbringing”, he probably wouldn’t have been inclined to kill anyone, just continue frequenting prostitutes.

And to all of you folks here who are ‘just realizing’ that these Asian massage parlors you’ve driven by every day aren’t legit businesses, I really lack the words. I’m one of the more naive people you’d meet in this world, and I’ve known what they were about since a tender age. Both on the prostitution side and on the human trafficking side.

Republicans have not only known, they endorse the strongest-eat-the-weakest mentality. Payday loan lenders are one of the biggest donors in UT to the Republican Party. Wouldn’t surprise me to find that massage parlers were a close second. As long as they pay the party they will look the other way. This in the pious bastion of Zion.

The algorithms are really mackin' it hard today...

Here I am reading about raccoon head shaman boy and the magic insurrection beans, and suddenly all of the ads on the page are for books about how to become a healing shaman.

Now that’s funny, right there.

After two days of non-sequitur word salad

Does anyone have first hand experience/knowledge of faithful supporters turning off the radio with a thoughtful look on their faces?

I only ask because I’ve made a habit of listening to presidential debates on radio rather than watching them in recent years, and I usually have a better feel for who did well. Sometimes visuals can be distracting. Without the accompanying visual propaganda/pageantry, I wonder if any who weren’t completely over the hedge actually had to focus on the chaos of what he mouth-farted?

Way too much to hope for, I know.

The only "plan" the republicans ever had was herd immunity.

It still is. If he and all of his supporters knew that he was positive before the debate, then this is a Jonestown level kool-aid event. They know the jig is up, and they have no way out.

But if everyone is reeling from a mass outbreak right here at home, after it’s all over, they can claim to have been pivotal in getting us through, and can spin whatever seems favorable to them as we’re picking up the pieces.

Knowingly passing along a potentially fatal virus? Willfully? Aside from the morally repugnant aspect that is going to register with many voters, I’d imagine there’s even some legal nuances here that can be shaken out.

But the timing here sucks for them, from the SCOTUS nomination to the election itself, it’s time to be very concerned about what they potentially will do next. Because they’ve shown what they really care about and what they’re prepared to do to get their way. Unless there was any question that they believed in honor, in fair play, in what the constitution represents, their actions of late have removed all doubt.

They don’t care about America, they only want their theocracy.
They don’t care about you, only they matter (true sociopaths).
They have no honor, and will lie, cheat, steal, and kill to get their way.

What atrocity are they preparing to retain their grip on power? You can bet it’s in the works, it’s coming.
