So I applied for a job today.

I am near broke. Partly due to some bad decisions on my part and the rest is because I am paying part of my mother's expenses at assisted living for dementia care at $72k per year....save your money now, partners.

Anyway, I live in an upscale neighborhood. 1/8 mile from my house is a King's supermarket. It is very upscale..to the point that I used to see John DeLorean shopping in this store. So I figured I would apply there for a full time job and get, maybe $12. per hour. That would be enough to cover the slack each month.

N.J. minimum wage is $8.25 per hour. Interviewer says the pay is $9.00 per hour. BUT, nobody gets to work more than 29 hours per week. On top of this, there are union dues. So where is the union during all of this?

This store charges customers more than some of the other supermarkets in the area. W.T.F.?

So I got hit by a U.S.P.S. truck last night.

Then, the guy takes off. (Hit and Run). I followed him to get information to report the problem. He sees me following and increases his speed. He stopped at a stop light and I cellphone-photoed the numbers on the back of his truck....

Then, to avoid me, he blows through a red light.

Consensus among my friends is that I am S.O.L.

Any other opinions?

I am going to file a police report so at least I am covered by my comprehensive.

Is your town having troubles with mail delivery?

Our town in New Jersey has residents that have mail not delivered for days at a time. Billing statements are not received in a timely manner. Not even junk mail gets delivered... who doesn't get junk mail. Residents were told to call the local post office between 8:30 and 9:30 to register their complaints. But no one answers the phone.

There was a segment on ABC news yesterday about a similar problem in the Bronx.

The question is, whether this is a local or widespread problem. If widespread, what to do about it.
