Pelosi Statement on Trump Administration’s Attack on America’s Clean Energy Future

http://www.democraticleader.gov/newsroom/32817-2/

Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today after the President signed an executive order seeking to dismantle the landmark Clean Power Plan, and other environmental protections.

“President Trump and Congressional Republicans’ contempt for clean air, clean water, and our clean energy future endangers the health of our children and the strength of our economy. The Administration’s spiteful assault on the Clean Power Plan will not bring back jobs to coal country, it will only poison our air and undermine America’s ability to win the good-paying jobs of the future.

“More than two months into his Administration, President Trump has failed to create real opportunity or good-paying jobs for hard-working Americans. Instead, President Trump has pushed a budget that would eliminate the Appalachian Rural Commission which fosters job creation across coal country, and sought to slash investments in job training and American manufacturing. Meanwhile, the President and the Republican Congress have refused to help the tens of thousands of coal miners and their families slated to lose their health benefits on May 1.

“America must continue to lead in clean energy and confront the global climate crisis, for the health of our communities, the success of our economy, and the strength of our national security. The Trump Administration and this Congress must fulfill our obligation to lead in clean energy jobs and preserve the beauty of God’s creation for future generations. House Democrats will continue to call for bold action to secure America’s future.”

Press Releases 03.27.17 Pelosi Statement on President Trumps Assault on Public Education

And while Trump Russia scandals take the spotlight-every aspect of our lives are being punked upon by the Republicans and Trump!

Press Releases 03.27.17

Pelosi Statement on President Trump’s Assault on Public Education

http://www.democraticleader.gov/newsroom/32717-2/

Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi today released this statement after the President signed several resolutions, passed by Congressional Republicans, including two measures to weaken implementation of the overwhelmingly bipartisan Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) and diminishes the Higher Education Act’s teacher preparation programs.

“Today, President Trump showed he is not interested in ensuring world-class education for all America’s children. By signing these resolutions, he is actively jeopardizing the successful implementation of the overwhelmingly bipartisan Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), while also turning his back on our teachers and school leaders.

“Education is the most important investment a parent can make in a child, and a nation can make in its future. Yet, the Trump Administration and Congressional Republicans are undermining public education by hampering the success of ESSA’s core provisions that ensure strong accountability standards and allow schools and states the flexibility to provide a quality education to every student. More than 50 years after the historic passage of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, today, a majority of our nation’s 50 million public school students live in poverty.

“Democrats, led by our Ranking Member Bobby Scott, will be relentless in our dogged pursuit of ensuring that the needs of all students, teachers, school leaders and communities are being met. We will continue to insist on complete Congressional scrutiny of all Administration actions that impact ESSA to make certain that the provisions of the law as passed are upheld so that every student, regardless of their zip code, is empowered to realize their full potential.”

Trump has lawyered up. ...."executive priviledge' is a ruse -and a laugh!

..............According to letters The Post reviewed, the Justice Department notified Yates earlier this month that the administration considers a great deal of her possible testimony to be barred from discussion in a congressional hearing because the topics are covered by the presidential communication privilege.

Trump’s environmental executive order is everything we feared.

A senior White House official confirmed that President Trump will start rolling back key Obama-era climate policies on Tuesday. The executive order is aimed at sweeping away the Clean Power Plan, methane regulations, mining restrictions on federal land, and, well, you name it.

The White House will direct government agencies to root out “all rules, all policies, and guidance documents that serve as obstacles or impediments to domestic energy production,” according to the official who spoke on background during a conference call with reporters Monday evening.

“Energy independence,” said the official. “That’s the goal.” (For the record, the United States is already pretty independent, importing about 11 percent of its energy.)
..................

As details started to leak out after the conference call, environmental organizations were up in arms. The World Resources Institute called the impending order a “sledgehammer to U.S. climate action.”

When a reporter asked about green groups threatening to sue, the administration seemed unfazed. “I’m sure they’ll disagree, but what’s your point?” the official said. “When it comes to dealing with climate change, we want to take our own course and do it in our own form and fashion.”

Democratic Congressman Ted Lieu, Mocks Jeff Sessions After AG Announces Attack on Sanctuary Cities

Democratic Congressman Mocks Jeff Sessions After AG Announces Attack on Sanctuary Cities

by David Badash

'Sessions Is an Illegitimate AG'

U.S. Congressman Ted Lieu took to Twitter Monday afternoon to remind Americans that Attorney General Jeff Sessions lied to his fellow Senators during his confirmation hearings. Earlier Monday Sessions delivered an unexpected announcement, telling reporters the Dept. of Justice will force cities and states to certify they are not sanctuaries for undocumented immigrants.

"Dear States," Rep. Lieu, a Democrat from California, said on Twitter. "I'm thinking that since it's OK for AG Sessions to lie under oath to Congress, then it's OK for you to lie to him on your forms," he tweeted.

In January Attorney General Sessions' apparent lie to the Senate Judiciary Committee came under intense scrutiny. Sessions had claimed he was unaware of anyone from the Trump campaign having met with Russian officials. As America later learned, just a few weeks ago, Sessions himself had at least two meetings with the Russian Ambassador to the U.S.

At least 65 lawmakers demanded action, including many calling for Sessions to resign. Others called for him to recuse himself from any investigations into the Trump campaign, which he did......................................................

@tedlieu Sessions perjured himself, Trump is under FBI investigation and has a 36% approval. Why should we take them seriously?
