Lawsuit accuses ex-Fox News reporter Ed Henry of rape, says Sean Hannity, Tucker Carlson harassed other woman
Published Mon, Jul 20 20203:43 PM EDT Updated 5 Hours Ago

Key Points
............................

The other plaintiff, Areu’s fellow former Fox News employee Jennifer Eckhart, claims that Henry raped her, in addition to committing other sexual misconduct against her.

..............................

The federal suit says that one of the plaintiffs, Cathy Areu, also was sexually harassed by other high-profile men at Fox News, including Hannity, host Tucker Carlson, journalist Howard Kurtz and contributor Gianno Caldwell.

The other plaintiff, former Fox Business associate producer Jennifer Eckhart, claims that Henry raped her, in addition to committing other sexual misconduct against her.

Areu had been a frequent guest on Fox News, but the network says she was neither an employee nor a contributor. However, the lawsuit identifies her as meeting the definition of an employee, albeit not a full-time one................................................

It says Fox knew that Henry “had engaged in sexual misconduct as far back as early 2017,” when “multiple women came forward to complain that Mr. Henry had engaged in sexually inappropriate conduct towards them.”

But Henry was not fired or even disciplined after those earlier accusations, the suit says..........................................

Trump obviously has a history w/ conspiracy theories, as birtherism launched his political career. But he associates w/ & RTs conspiracy theorists broadly. The QAnon theory has spread remarkably. The recently de-platformed Alex Jones has been a principle news source for Trump.

Of course, all the Trumpers will laugh it off and say it's "fake news" and continue to live in their echo chamber.

Pulitzer Prize-winning Washington Post columnist George Will says he will be casting a vote for a Democrat in November — for the first time in his life.

Will was interviewed at the Aspen Institute on Monday by USA TODAY Washington bureau chief Susan Page.

Page reports that Will said that will be voting for Biden and that it is the first time he has voted for a Democrat since he started voting Republican when Barry Goldwater ran for president in 1964.

In Mark Meadows, Donald Trump finally has a chief of staff as stupid as he is

In Mark Meadows, Donald Trump finally has a chief of staff as stupid as he is

White House chief of staff Mark Meadows has been, from the start of his political career, a complete ideologue. A tea party darling, Meadows led the U.S. House Freedom Caucus—the crazy wing of the crazy party. Among his greatest hits was voting against Hurricane Sandy relief, leading the charge for the 2013 government shutdown, and providing the catalyst (via a resolution) for Republican House Speaker John Boehner’s resignation in 2015. And he was oh-so-loyal to Donald Trump from day one.

One would think, however, that being a back-bencher in a chamber with 435 seats was different than actually being in charge of staff. One would further think that once put in actual charge would lead one to behave more responsibly. But nope. In Meadows, Trump finally found someone as destructively stupid as he.

Exhibit A: There are lots of reasons Trump has f’d up the national response to the global mass death event wreaking havoc in our country. Turns out, Meadows is a big one. In one corner, you had Trump too afraid to lead, over his head, and stewing that the virus was so unfairly harming his reelection chances. In the other corner, you had ….

Casting the decision in ideological terms, Mr. Meadows would tell people: “Only in Washington, D.C., do they think that they have the answer for all of America.”

.......................................

........................

In other words, you have to be a special kind of asshole to think that the most powerful and best-resourced governmental institution should sit out a pandemic raging throughout the country. But, if you remember that Meadows voted against federal aid for disaster-struck Texas and Louisiana, well then, it makes more sense, right?

Exhibit B: This:

Some of Mr. Trump’s closest advisers are adamant that the best way forward is to downplay the dangers of the disease. Mark Meadows, the chief of staff, has been particularly forceful in his view that the White House should avoid drawing attention to the virus, according to people familiar with the discussions.

Mr. Meadows has for the most part opposed any briefings about the virus [...]

Major Trump Donors Received At Least $41 Million In PPP Loans For Their Companies

The 15 donors gave Trump and the GOP $1.4 million this spring, in a process that critics say lacked basic transparency.

WASHINGTON ― As the coronavirus ravaged America this spring, 15 business leaders gave President Donald Trump and the Republican Party $1.4 million in big checks while their businesses collected at least $41 million in federal assistance.

William Scott, CEO of railroad contractor Trans-Global Solutions, donated $150,000 to the Trump Victory committee in the weeks after his company received as much as $10 million from the Paycheck Protection Program on April 14.

Alfred Hendrickson, the owner of a South Florida Toyota dealership, donated $41,100 to Trump’s Make America Great Committee on April 27, the same day his dealership received a PPP loan worth as much as $5 million.

And Dan Eberhart, the head of oilfield services provider Canary LLC, gave $100,000 to Trump Victory on June 10, two months after receiving as much as $8.4 million in PPP loans for Canary and three affiliated companies.

Robert Weissman, head of the liberal watchdog group Public Citizen, said the big-dollar donations from principals at businesses receiving swift approval for federal aid erode confidence in an important and necessary government program.

“Recipients should have been prohibited from making political contributions,” he said......................

'Feds Stay Clear!': Portland Moms Form a Human Chain to Shield Protesters from Federal Officers

Source: Reuters /News18

Reuters Last Updated: July 20, 2020, 8:50 AM IST

Chanting "Feds stay clear! The moms are here," dozens of women lined up to form a barrier between demonstrators and federal and local law enforcement officers in Portland on Friday (July 18).

Several participants in what is being referred to as the moms' protest said they were alarmed that federal law enforcement officers were being used to crack down on demonstrations in the city.

"This is beyond acceptable," one 60-year-old participant said, adding that the actions of federal agents was "terrifying."

Multiple videos posted online in recent days show camouflage-clad officers without clear identification badges using force and unmarked vehicles to transport arrested protesters.

The use of federal agents is part of the Trump administration's new executive order to protect U.S. monuments. ................................................

By KIMBERLEE KRUESI Associated Press Jul 17, 2020 Updated Jul 17, 2020

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — President Donald Trump on Friday once again threw support behind his former U.S. Ambassador to Japan Bill Hagerty, a Republican running in the primary for an open U.S. Senate seat in Tennessee.

Hagerty, 59, has frequently touted Trump's endorsement ever since the president broke the news the former ambassador was running for political office nearly a year ago.

“I’ll never forget I went to Japan and he knew every person over there, he knew the businessmen, he could pronounce those names I had a hard time with,” Trump said in a tele-town hall with Hagerty. “I had a very hard time pronouncing those names.”

Trump encouraged Tennesseans to vote early, warning that it was critical to elect senators in office who would vote in favor of the judges he appoints.

“Your Second Amendment is under siege. If I weren’t here I don’t think you would have a Second Amendment," Trump added while praising Hagerty's support of law enforcement. “You would certainly have a very weak one.

.............For those who do not want to vote in person, a judge is giving all eligible voters the option to vote absentee during the pandemic. Absentee ballots can be requested until July 30. First-time voters can only vote absentee if they have shown ID at a county election office.
