Sen. Duckworth to "leader" Mitch McConnell

I think she would make a great VP.

Your proposal provides more money to increase the value of the Trump hotel than to help state and local governments keep teachers and other essential workers on payroll.

Doctor retweeted by Trump has warned of alien DNA, sex with demons

A Houston doctor who made false statements about the coronavirus in a video that was removed from Facebook, Twitter and YouTube this week has previously made other unfounded claims about medical conditions, sexual contact with spirits, the U.S. government, children's television shows and more.

Stella Immanuel appeared in a video this week published by the right-wing outlet Breitbart News.

The video shows people in white lab coats holding a press conference in front of the Supreme Court in Washington, D.C. The group calls itself “America’s Frontline Doctors,” and in the video, Immanuel argues that “you don’t need masks” to prevent the spread of COVID-19. She also claims that studies showing that hydroxychloroquine is not effective for treating the disease are “fake science” and sponsored by “fake pharma companies."

President Trump posted versions of the video on Twitter on Monday; they were later removed by the social media site. The president’s son, Donald Trump Jr., also tweeted the video, and Twitter announced that it has limited his account for 12 hours...........................

But Immanuel, who is a licensed physician in Texas, according to the Texas Medical Board, has previously claimed on YouTube and in articles on her website that gynecological problems, such as endometriosis, cysts and infertility, are caused by individuals having sex with demons and witches in their dreams.

...............................................

Immanuel has said in sermons on YouTube that widespread gynecological issues are caused by sexual contact with “spirit husbands” and “spirit wives.”

.....................................

In the same 2015 sermon in which she referenced alien DNA, she said the government is run by “reptilians,” not humans.

She has also said that popular children’s television shows and toys are being used to expose children to witches and spirits. She specifically cited the Harry Potter series, Pokémon, the shows “Wizards of Waverly Place” and “Hannah Montana,” and more. She also said that Magic 8 Ball toys introduce children to witches.

The video blocked by social media giants this week uses footage from a speech Immanuel gave at the Supreme Court at an event called the “White Coat Summit," according to multiple reports.

The physician said at the event that she has treated hundreds of COVID-19 patients with hydroxychloroquine, the anti-malarial drug that has often been touted by Trump.

'I'm Starting To Lose My Temper': Rep. Jayapal Eviscerates Bill Barr

Source: Crooks and Liars

7/28/20 12:09pm

Bill Barr stumbled through his answers as Rep. Jayapal landed blow after blow.

Rep. Jayapal absolutely torched AG Bill Barr during his hearing at the House Judiciary Committee on Tuesday afternoon. All that was left after she was done was a steaming carcass and a pile of smoke.

JAYAPAL: Mr Barr, on June 1st, there were protests against the murder of George Floyd and police brutality in Lafayette Park. Let us not be distracted by you or my GOP colleagues as to what these powerful and massive protests were actually about. They were about the persistent killing of black bodies by law enforcement and finally, finally an awakening in America of the conscious of our country. But your direction was to direct federal officers to descend on the protesters and to use weapons, batons and horses to clear the area just so the President could get a photo op. So I do want to ask you, do you think that your response, do you think the response at Lafayette Square to tear gas, pepper spray and beat protesters was appropriate?

BARR: Well, first, to my understanding that no tear gas was used on Monday, June 1st.

JAYAPAL: Mr. Barr, that is a semantic distinction that has been proven false by many fact checkers.

BARR: How is it semantic? Tear gas is a particular compound compound.

JAYAPAL: You talked about chemical irritants and it has been proven false by reports. So just answer the question. Do you think that was appropriate at Lafayette Park to pepper spray tear gas and beat protesters and injure American citizens?..........................................................

Trump questions how Fauci has a high approval rating 'but nobody likes me'

Source: the hill

By Brett Samuels - 07/28/20 06:07 PM EDT

President Trump on Tuesday questioned why Anthony Fauci, the government's top infectious diseases expert, has a higher approval rating with the public than he does on his handling of the coronavirus pandemic.

"It’s interesting, he’s got a very good approval rating and I like that. It’s good," Trump said during a press briefing at the White House. "Because remember, he’s working for this administration. He’s working with us. We could’ve gotten other people. We could’ve gotten somebody else. It didn't have to be Dr. Fauci. He's working with our administration. And for the most part, we've done pretty much what he and others... recommended."

"And he’s got this high approval rating, so why don’t I have a high approval rating… with respect to the virus?" Trump wondered aloud.

........................................

"So it sort of is curious," Trump said. "A man works for us, with us, very closely. Dr. facui and Dr. Birx, also highly thought of. And yet they're highly thought of, but nobody likes me. It can only be my personality. That’s all.".....................

Collins trails in Maine Senate race, according to a new poll

Source: Boston Globe

By James Pindell Globe Staff,Updated July 28, 2020, 21 minutes ago

Embattled Republican incumbent US Senator Susan Collins is trailing her Democratic challenger, Maine House Speaker Sara Gideon, by 5 percentage points, according to a new Colby College poll released Tuesday afternoon.

The poll of 888 likely Maine voters found that 44 percent backed Gideon and 39 percent backed Collins. The poll used a mix of phone calls and an internet survey and had a margin of error of 3.9 percent.

A different poll released last week from the Democratic-leaning Public Policy Polling also found Gideon was ahead by five points.

Maine’s Senate contest is the most high-profile race in New England and one of the most closely watched nationwide, as Democrats likely need to win the seat in order to gain the Senate majority. It is also already the most expensive political contest in state history, given that both candidates have raised over $30 million combined and super PACs from both sides have contributed millions more.

Gideon officially became the Democratic nominee in a primary two weeks ago.................

It is becoming apparent that sports are not currently viable in the United States outside of a "bub

I agree with several of the comments. I will miss some of the sports but too big of risk for players --long term effects for some who get the virus.

Best for entire USA to start over--shut down everything --mandate fines for not social distancing or for not wearing a mask.
Lets start over EVERYONE, EVERYWHERE.

It is becoming apparent that sports are not currently viable in the United States outside of a "bubble" environment. There's just too much virus out there.

SURPRISE! Trump was never even invited to throw the first pitch at the Yankee's home opener. He lied

SURPRISE! Trump was never even invited to throw the first pitch at the Yankee's home opener. He lied about that out of jealousy over Fauci throwing the first pitch of the poorly conceived MLB season. Trump has since "canceled".

@JillWineBanks
I’ll be watching Barr testify and I’ll try to keep you informed in case you can’t watch. Based on his audition memo, past performances before Congress, Flynn and Stone actions, and his prepared remarks for today, I don’t expect honesty.
