@KellyannePolls made a fool of herself--as Dem candidates have already visited the #Trumpcamps

Too bad Democrats refuses to join today’s visit to the border, now that majority of Americans call it a “crisis” & Congress passed $4.6 billion in bipartisan humanitarian aid.

Homestead isn't just for kids at the border, it's for kids living in the U.S. their whole lives

Homestead isn’t just for kids at the border, it’s for kids living in the U.S. their whole lives

At the 3,200-bed Homestead detention center for unaccompanied immigrant youths, one 15-year-old boy is an aberration: He has lived in the United States virtually his entire life.

Far from being a recent arrival at the southern border, the teen entered the country when he was a 9-month-old infant; he has lived in Houston his whole life, along with his mother, who brought him to the U.S. in 2004.

More than two weeks ago, the teen was detained in Texas when a local county cop pulled his uncle over for speeding. When they could not produce immigration documents, the boy and his uncle — the Miami Herald is not identifying either one because of their immigration status — were promptly arrested, then separated.

The teen, who was transferred among four different government agencies in four days prior to arriving in Homestead, is among thousands of detainees at the nation’s largest detention center for unaccompanied minors in South Miami-Dade County. Both he and his mother originally arrived in the U.S. without documentation.

President Donald Trump comes in fourth after President Bill Clinton and President Ronald Reagan, with 19 percent of Americans ranking him as the best or second best in their lifetimes.

Chants of 'classrooms, not cages' as hundreds gather for immigration vigil in DC

Source: usatoday

Olivia Sanchez, USA TODAY Published 8:26 p.m. ET July 12, 2019 | Updated 9:28 p.m. ET July 12, 2019

WASHINGTON – Hundreds of people gathered Friday night for Washington’s “Lights for Liberty” event and vigil, one of more than 700 that were planned across five continents to raise awareness of conditions in immigrant detention facilities in the southern United States.

A large group from the American Federation of Teachers marched to the event, chanting “classrooms, not cages.” They were welcomed by the executive director of CASA, Gustavo Torres. CASA is the nation's largest advocacy group for Latino immigrants.

“Si se puede,” Torres said. “Yes, we can!”

Organizers of “Lights for Liberty” said that D.C. was one of the first cities they planned a vigil in, specifically to “demand action from Congress to end concentration camps and impeach the President,” according to the group's website........................................

President Trump raises cash in Milwaukee as he reignites feud with Wisconsin's Paul Ryan

Source: Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

Updated 4:30 p.m. CT July 12, 2019

President Donald Trump raised $3 million in Wisconsin cash on Friday touring Milwaukee to promote a new trade deal he says will help rebuild the country's wounded manufacturing industry.

But in doing so, the president didn't acknowledge the suffocation felt by Wisconsin dairy farmers by Trump's own tariffs and reignited a feud with former House Speaker and Janesville Congressman Paul Ryan.

Trump arrived in Milwaukee still simmering about Ryan's recently reported opinion that the president didn't know "anything about government" and less than two hours after losing his labor secretary amid furor over a child sex trafficking scheme

The president set aside the controversy — for now — in Milwaukee as he pushed Congress to approve a new trade deal with Mexico and Canada and to boost his campaign's coffers in a private fundraiser.

“We were laughed at by the rest of the world. We were patsies,” Trump told a crowd at Derco Aerospace about previous trade deals — namely, the North American Free Trade Agreement he wants to replace.

MILWAUKEE — President Donald Trump laid into former Republican House Speaker Paul Ryan as a "baby" and a "terrible speaker" on Friday hours before visiting Ryan's home state to talk trade and raise money for his 2020 re-election campaign.

Trump unleashed his criticism after the former congressman from Janesville was quoted in a new book as saying the president didn't know anything about governing and that he retired to get away from him.

"Paul Ryan let us down. Paul Ryan was a terrible speaker," Trump told reporters on the South Lawn. "Frankly, he was a baby. He didn't know what the hell he was doing."

Ryan condemns Trump in "American Carnage," by Tim Alberta of Politico. Alberta wrote that the former speaker, who retired from Congress in 2018, could not stand the idea of another two years with the Republican president and saw retirement as the "escape hatch." Ryan is quoted saying: "I'm telling you, he didn't know anything about government. I wanted to scold him all the time."

On Thursday evening, Trump unleashed tweets labeling Ryan as a "lame duck failure.".................................

Incoming acting Labor Secretary Patrick Pizzella under scrutiny for work with disgraced lobbyist

Key Points
.......................................

Incoming acting Labor Secretary Patrick Pizzella will take the helm of the department following the resignation Friday of Alex Acosta, who faced scrutiny over his role in prosecuting alleged sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein more than a decade ago.

But Pizzella, currently deputy Labor secretary, has his own controversial past that will likely come to the fore. Democratic senators and civil rights groups have expressed concern about Pizzella’s prior work with disgraced Republican lobbyist Jack Abramoff in the late 1990s and early 2000s to hamper worker protections in the Northern Mariana Islands.

When Pizzella worked on Abramoff’s team at Preston Gates Ellis & Rouvelas Meeds, the lobbying firm was pushing to prevent Congress from imposing minimum wage laws on the Northern Mariana Islands. At the time, there were “maximum” wage restrictions on the islands of $3.05 per hour for foreign workers, according to the Center for Investigative Reporting..............................

“I have no idea what that’s about,” said Steven Groves, a White House deputy press secretary....................

Pastor tells Fox News that immigrant detention center is okay because kids don't complain

Source: thinkprogress

Fox & Friends hosted Pastor Russell Black of Latin Impact Ministries to dismiss any concerns about for-profit Homestead detention facility.

Jul 12, 2019, 10:11 am

The largely unregulated Homestead detention center near Miami, Florida, has been under fire for its handling of immigrant children. But Fox News on Friday brought on a local pastor who frequently leads prayer services at the facility to offer a full-throated endorsement of the only for-profit detention center for immigrant children.

Pastor Russell Black, president of Latin Impact Ministries in Homestead, Florida, joined FOX & Friends to debunk concerns raised by journalists and public officials about the corporate-owned Homestead where thousands of migrant kids are being kept.

...........................

“As I see the print media, the politicians, make comments and allegations about the shelter, it blows me away that they don’t have the correct picture at all,” Black observed. “Many of us have been working there, volunteering for the last four years. We’ve been privileged to be able to conduct religious services there every Saturday morning. And literally thousands of children have passed through our services. And lives have been changed.”

Black dismissed “the allegations that we have heard many times” that kids are there for “indefinitely, for long periods of time,” because he has observed children who are, “as quickly as [possible] relocated to a safe family environment and sometimes it’s very quick.” He did concede that sometime it “takes longer time based on their individual circumstances,” but said he hoped his own children would be so lucky if they ever have to be stuck in an immigration detention facility. According to an NPR report in February, advocates said the average time children spent at the Homestead was 67 days.........................

Trump tells confidants he's eager to remove Dan Coats

.............................................

The state of play: Trump hasn't told our sources when he plans to make a move, but they say his discussions on the topic have been occurring for months — often unprompted — and the president has mentioned potential replacements since at least February. A source who spoke to Trump about Coats a week ago said the president gave them the impression that the move would happen "sooner rather than later."

The director of national intelligence serves as an overseer of the U.S. intelligence community and a close adviser to the president and National Security Council, producing each day's top-secret Presidential Daily Brief.

A source with direct knowledge told me that Trump has privately said he thinks the Office of the Director of National Intelligence represents an unnecessary bureaucratic layer and that he would like to get rid of it. He has been told that eliminating the ODNI is not politically possible, but still would like to "downsize" the office, the source said.

A government source who has discussed the matter with Trump characterized the president's thinking this way: "It's time for a change. Dan's a great guy but the president doesn’t listen to him anymore.".........................................................

Trump does not listen to the Intel--so he wants to eliminate it--but will downsize it.

Nearly half of voters less likely to support lawmakers who back ObamaCare repeal

Nearly half of voters less likely to support lawmakers who back ObamaCare repeal

7/11/2019

Almost half of Americans say they are less likely to support lawmakers who are in favor of repealing ObamaCare, according to a new Hill-HarrisX poll.

The survey, released on Thursday, found that 47 percent of registered voters said they were less likely to cast a ballot for members of Congress who backed a lawsuit that aims to eliminate ObamaCare, compared to 28 percent of respondents who were more likely to support those lawmakers.

Twenty-six percent of voters said it doesn’t matter either way.

Older Americans and minorities were least likely to support lawmakers who favored the ObamaCare lawsuit. The poll found that 58 percent of respondents age 65 and older and 68 percent of African Americans were less inclined to back lawmakers who are opposed to ObamaCare.

President Trump and Republicans have reignited the debate over ObamaCare in recent months.

On Tuesday, a three-judge panel on the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals heard arguments in a lawsuit back by the Trump administration seeking to overturn the entire 2010 health care law.

The panel, which included two Republicans and one Democrat, indicated it might strike down ObamaCare’s individual mandate.

Under the mandate, Americans who did not buy health insurance had to pay a financial penalty, a provision that was upheld by the Supreme Court in 2012 by calling it a tax. Congress later eliminated the financial penalty........................................................
