Trump Sounded Drugged As He Slurred, Snorted, and Breathed Heavily During Iran Statement

It is well known that Trump doesn’t drink or use drugs, but he was slurring, snorting, and breathing heavily through his statement on Iran.

The problems were evident from the beginning of his statement when Trump said:

I’m pleased to inform you: The American people should be extremely grateful and happy no Americans were harmed in last night’s attack by the Iranian regime. We suffered no casualties, all of our soldiers are safe, and only minimal damage was sustained at our military bases.
?
Our great American forces are prepared for anything. Iran appears to be standing down, which is a good thing for all parties concerned and a very good thing for the world...........................

Rand Paul, Mike Lee rip administration over 'insulting and demeaning' Iran briefing

Source: the hill

By Jordain Carney - 01/08/20 05:05 PM EST

GOP Sens. Mike Lee (Utah) and Rand Paul (Ky.) ripped the administration over a closed-door briefing on Iran on Wednesday, announcing they will now support a resolution reining in President Trump's military powers.

Lee, speaking to reporters after a roughly hourlong closed-door meeting with administration officials, characterized it as "the worst briefing I've seen, at least on a military issue."

Defense Secretary Mark Esper, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, CIA Director Gina Haspel and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Mark Milley were dispatched to brief both the House and Senate on Wednesday amid days of concerns from lawmakers that Trump was on a path to war with Iran, which on Tuesday night launched missiles at Iraqi bases housing U.S. troops.

Lee said the officials warned that Congress would "embolden" Iran if lawmakers debated Trump's war powers.

"I find this insulting and demeaning ... to the office that each of the 100 senators in this building happens to hold. I find it insulting and demeaning to the Constitution of the United States," Lee said. ....................

Iran 'Concludes' Attacks, Foreign Minister Says

Source: nytimes

Iran does not seek “seek escalation or war,” the minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, said in a tweet hours after Iran launched missile strikes against Americans in Iraq.

Iran says it does ‘not seek escalation or war.’

Iran has “concluded” its attacks on American forces and does “not seek escalation or war,” the country’s foreign minister said in a tweet on Wednesday.

Moments later, President Trump said in a tweet that he would make a statement on Wednesday morning about the conflict, and suggested that damages and casualties sustained by American forces were minimal. But he also said the assessment of the attacks was ongoing..................

NEW YORK (Reuters) - The American public is increasingly critical of President Donald Trump’s handling of Iran after he ordered the U.S. military to kill a powerful Iranian military commander, and a majority of U.S. adults now expect the countries to be at war in the near future, according to Reuters/Ipsos polling released on Tuesday.

The national opinion poll found that 53% of adults in the U.S. disapprove of Trump's handling of Iran, which is an increase of about 9 percentage points from a similar poll that ran in the middle of December. (tmsnrt.rs/2sYNzgi)

The number of adults who “strongly disapprove” of Trump’s actions in Iran - 39% - is up 10 points from the December poll.

The response was largely split along party lines, with disapproval up over the past month among Democrats and independents, while it did not change among Republicans.

About nine in 10 Democrats and five in 10 independents disapprove of Trump’s actions in Iran. Among Republicans, one in 10 disapprove. One in 10 Democrats, four in 10 independents and eight in 10 Republicans approve of Trump’s handling of Iran. ............................................

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) addressed news that Iran had launched missiles at an Iraqi military base housing U.S. troops during a campaign rally on Tuesday night, telling supporters that the developments were an example of why Americans don't want a conflict with Iran.

"We have to start on a very sober note," Warren said at the event in Brooklyn. "For any of you who haven’t been able to follow it, within the last hour, the Iranian government has announced that it has sent missiles to attack our military bases in Iraq."

“This is a reminder of why we need to de-escalate tension in the Middle East. The American people do not want a war with Iran," she continued.

Warren made the comments alongside former Democratic presidential candidate Julián Castro. ....................................

Susan Collins says she backs McConnell’s rigged impeachment trial because Schumer is raising money for her rival

Published 1 min ago on January 8, 2020

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) announced on Tuesday that he had secured the unanimous votes from his caucus to pass a partisan rules package for the impeachment trial that could allow Republicans to advance straight to a vote without hearing from any additional witnesses — including several Republican senators who had expressed discomfort at McConnell’s self-admitted coordination with the White House, including Mitt Romney (R-UT), Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), and Susan Collins (R-ME).

According to Politico, Collins, in particular, justifies her support for rigging the impeachment trial by saying she was annoyed at Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) — the key figure trying to persuade her to give a promise of witness testimony — for trying to support a campaign against her re-election in Maine.

“I don’t think Chuck Schumer is very interested in my opinion since he’s just launched a website in Maine and just committed an additional $700,000 in additional negative advertising from the Majority Forward PAC,” said Collins. “I don’t think he’s really very interested in doing anything but trying to defeat me by telling lies to the people of Maine. And you can quote me on that.”..........................................

Britain’s foreign secretary has said that targeting cultural sites in Iran would breach international warfare conventions in an implicit rebuke to Donald Trump for threatening to bomb protected heritage sites.

Dominic Raab did not criticise the US president directly over his threats, but said: “We have been very clear that cultural sites are protected under international law and we would expect that to be respected.”

The senior British minister was speaking after Trump said he could target 52 Iranian sites if Iran retaliated over the assassination of Qassem Suleimani – “some at a very high level and important to Iran and the Iranian culture”.

Trump’s comments amount to threatening a war crime because such action would violate international treaties that the US has signed up to.............................

This is straight up slander from Chris Cillizza. We laugh at how dumb Cillizza is because he’s truly dumb. But we also forget that shit like this defines narratives. It’s Warren right now but this will be Biden if he’s the nominee in September. This brand of journalism is bad.
