Actor/Activist Ron Perlman on Dean Obeidallah's program last night

This particular interview was so exceptional. I've seen Ron Perlman in films but I hadn't realized he was an activist and such a poignant, passionate and articulate one at that. I wish I could transcribe the entire interview, but here's a key moment to give you a flavor.

What's happening that's hard to process is that the appearance of a guy like Donald Trump was never contemplated, by anyone, and every time you get used to being outraged by how sick and twisted this motherfucker is, and how inhuman he is, he tops it the next day, so you can't even keep up with trying to legislate or litigate. He knows the only tool he has going for him is to desensitize us to the point where we no longer are able to tell the difference between right and wrong. And thank god we've come to this moment where a great leadership is rising up and articulating itself and saying, "This is not who we are and this is not what we are about, and the thing that you are representing is unacceptable."

He also said, at one point:

"This is so much more than an election... it is a call to save the very thing that thousands and thousands of people bled for on battlefields for the last 400 years."

What I can't capture is the poignancy, the moral indignation, the outrage and, even at times, the humor. He exactly nailed the way I've been feeling lately.

If you like what he's saying, follow him on Twitter @perlmutations

Dean Obeidallah also had on his program yesterday Rob Reiner, Joy Ann Reid and Mary Trump. It is archived on the SiriusXM website under Progressive Radio if you are a subscriber.

They did! That is a strange account. Sometimes there are suggestive

bursts of FBI Vault releases. I remember they posted some strange things...

Some Epstein related documents? (EDIT: I don't think it was this)

But there was something else. There were two or three releases of documents that pertained to "current events", something unfolding right at that moment in the news.

Damn, I'm having trouble recalling but the FBI Vault released some things that seemed unfavorable to Trump or some of his cronies at a crucial moment over the last three years, and they did so in rapid succession. At the time, it seemed intentional. But now I can't remember the specific investigations they released.

The documents turned out to be rather disappointing (and fairly redacted), compared to what came out later, but they were appropriate appetizers that validated that the FBI had looked into some incendiary events in the news.

Hopefully somebody can fill in this gap. It was the type of content Rachel Maddow might have reported on.

Excellent. Agree: It's probably difficult to corroborate a single piece of

evidence that is under the purview of a few select individuals in the GRU. Look how hard it has been to get any details about the DVDs and photographs hidden in Jeffrey Epstein's safe.

Here's the part of John Bolton's book that is worth reading

I'm going to save you $25, and the time you can never get back of having to slog through 570 pages of John Bolton congratulating himself, setting out in tedious detail every phone call and trivial thought, comparing himself favorably to every other person who appears in the book, and copiously quoting other people saying nice things about him.

It all boils down to this paragraph from page 77:

"When the situation was manageable it was neglected, and now that it is thoroughly out of hand we apply too late the remedies which then might have affected a cure. There is nothing new in the story. It is as old as the Sibylline books. It falls into that long, dismal catalogue of the fruitlessness of experience and the confirmed unteachability of mankind. Want of foresight, unwillingness to act when action would be simple and effective, lack of clear thinking, confusion of counsel until the emergency comes, until self-preservation strikes its jarring gong—these are the features which constitute the endless repetition of history.”

It's not by John Bolton.

He's quoting Winston Churchill.

—House of Commons, 2 May 1935. In a conference at Stresa, Britain, France and Italy had agreed to cooperate to maintain the independence of Austria. His fear was that this plan would be nullified by inertia. Hitler annexed Austria in March 1938. If only, Churchill was saying, these three powers had worked for peace and collective security earlier.

It's such a clear choice.

I don't understand how any conscious human being, faced with a choice between the empty and bitter rage offered by Trump, and the warmth and purposeful path of redemption offered by Biden/Harris, could choose Trump.

Who wants four more years of this? Who can physically and mentally withstand four more years of this?

August 19, 2020

I'm thinking this will happen too.

Everything they do blows back on them.

I think the sabotage of the USPS could backfire too.

And the effort by Senator Ron Johnson and his pals to use Russian disinformation--that won't go well.

EDIT: I think Mueller was a good guy who was stymied at every turn by an administration that has a complete disregard for all legal norms. He wasn't prepared to deal with this. I understand the disappointment and anger of people who don't think he was strident enough in his conclusions or testimony, but I think he will be vindicated in the long run by history.

I'm leaning towards it being Miles Taylor

1. I can't find any information about a new Anonymous book
2. "A WARNING" by Anonymous was released in a new paperback edition yesterday, with a new preface.
3. Miles Taylor surfaced the day before its release. Anonymous writes in "A WARNING" that he will make himself known before the election.
4. Taylor uses the same phraseology as Anonymous when he speaks for "others" who will follow him and "make themselves known soon"
5. Anonymous pays particular attention in "A WARNING" to DHS and immigration issues, which is one reason some people thought it might be Kirstjen Nielsen. Miles Taylor was her chief of staff.

EDIT: Anonymous never says he will reveal himself to be Anonymous; just that he will "reveal himself." So I'm not dissuaded from believing Taylor is the guy because he hasn't (yet) claimed responsibility for being Anonymous.

It's hard not to wonder about Colorado.

Maybe election officials in Colorado should re-examine West's paperwork and signatures, look again at the process and make sure they didn't miss some glaring procedural errors. It's just so hard to believe these stooges running the Kanye West campaign did everything perfectly in Colorado when he has mucked it up in so many other states.

August 19, 2020

He hates to acknowledge bad news. It's a lie.

But the reporter should ask him if he's heard of "Anonymous." That might jog his memory.

So Trump shagged some Kremlin honeypots and this isn't news?

Okay, so maybe I'm exaggerating a little. But, I mean, we've just been handed a story we can turn into a scandal. The other side would.

Kremlin-linked businessman boasted he knew about president's 'relationships with women' in Moscow and hotel bosses talked about elevator tape of Trump with two 'hostesses' Senate Intel report reveals - but says Putin's spies did NOT have kompromat

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8639917/Kremlin-linked-businessman-boasted-knew-presidents-relationships-women-Moscow.html

I mean, how stupid can you be to go to Moscow and start sleeping around with random "hostesses"?

Maybe it's nothing but you know if it was Joe Biden it would be all over the place. Senate investigations would have been opened. The Trump Campaign "Death Star" would be running ads on Facebook.

Maybe the Lincoln Project can do something with this.

Just sayin'
