The OFFICIAL super bowl helmet to helmet hit thread.

That's one uncalled right there. Second down play Broncos second possession, #31 obvious hit to the head, no call. Led with the head and first contact was the head.

keep em coming when you see em...

It's 2016, Discuss Obama's legacy.....

I am sure that both the Keystone Pipeline and some version of the TTP will be passed before Obama leaves office.

In some ways he has been great but in others (only two are noted above) not so good.

He wound down two wars but left gazillions of private contractors in place.

Drones.

Killed Bin laden (perhaps!?!) not Sadam

Captured terrorists, foreign and domestic, and stopped many terror plots.

Failed in Benghazi.

Avoided war (so far) with Syria and Iran.
Guantanamo still in operation.

Spoke out in favor of cannabis but DOJ busted lots of people for cannabis.

So many things I like, but so many I don't.

If You Like To Eat, You Should Really Be Worried About California's Drought

California had record low rainfall in 2013. It was potentially the driest year in the last 500 years, according to tree rings, and dry weather is expected to last through 2014. The state's $44.7 billion agriculture industry may take a significant hit, and prices for foods that are water-intensive to produce -- such as beef, milk, and tomatoes -- might start reflecting California's water woes.

Water Deliveries cut to ZERO as well:
State officials announced Friday that 29 water agencies serving 25 million people across California can expect “zero” water deliveries from the State Water Project this summer because of the worsening drought.

Although that delivery projection could change, it is the first time a “zero allocation” forecast has been made in the 54-year history of the State Water Project, which is operated by the California Department of Water Resources and typically delivers Sierra snowmelt to cities and farms throughout the state.

The decision was among several emergency measures announced Friday to deal with a persistent statewide drought that has left the California mountain snowpack at just 12 percent of the January average.

The “zero” forecast affects urban and agricultural areas from San Jose to San Diego that depend in part on water diverted from the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta. Most of these areas have other water sources to draw from, including local reservoirs and groundwater wells.

California drought: 17 communities could run out of water within 60 to 120 days, state says

As California's drought deepens, 17 communities across the state are in danger of running out of water within 60 to 120 days, state officials said Tuesday.

In some communities, wells are running dry. In others, reservoirs are nearly empty. Some have long-running problems that predate the drought.

The water systems, all in rural areas, serve from 39 to 11,000 residents. They range from the tiny Lompico County Water District in Santa Cruz County to districts that serve the cities of Healdsburg and Cloverdale in Sonoma County.

And it could get a lot worse.

"As the drought goes on, there will be more that probably show up on the list," said Dave Mazzera, acting drinking-water division chief for the state Department of Public Health.

California drought: 17 communities could be out of water in 100 days

(01-29) 09:49 PST HEALDSBURG -- Amid one of the worst droughts in California's recorded history, state officials say 17 communities and water districts could run dry within 100 days.

The threatened towns and districts are mostly small and in rural areas. They get their water in a variety of ways, from reservoirs to wells to rivers. But in all cases, a nearly rainless winter has left their supplies approaching empty.

In the greater Bay Area, Cloverdale and Healdsburg in Sonoma County are among those at risk of running out of water. The small Lompico Water District in the Santa Cruz Mountains is also on the list.

"These systems all are experiencing challenges meeting customer need, and those challenges are exacerbated by drought conditions," Matt Conens, spokesman for the California Department of Public Health, said in an e-mail to The Chronicle.

The health department is seeking to help the communities in several ways, Conens said. In some areas, new wells will be dug. In others, water may be hauled in. In some cases, smaller water systems will be connected with larger ones.

Open letters from Dru and Amber Davis, Wendy Davis' daughters

January 28, 2014

Open Letter from Dru Davis

My name is Dru Davis and I am Wendy Davis's daughter. I hate that I feel the need to write this, but I have been reading and hearing so many untrue things about my mom and I want to set the record straight. And sadly I feel the need to be crystal clear on the malicious and false charge of abandonment as nothing could be further from the truth. My mom has always shared equally in the care and custody of my sister and me.

My mom had my sister at 19 and although she was technically married for a short period of time, she was handling almost everything on her own. She was working 2 jobs regularly and going to school. She met my dad when Amber was still very young. They had an amazing love that I witnessed for many years. Unfortunately, it didn't last, like so many love stories don't.

I can tell you that my mom was a remarkable mother and continues to be so to this day. She was there on my first day of school and my last, and so many days in between. She never missed a school performance or a parent-‐teacher
conference. Even if that meant she had to miss something else important. My sister
and I were always her first priority. She was there when I needed her and even when I thought I didn't. My mom was my Brownie Troop leader. I still remember camping out in the backyard with my troop after our trip was cancelled because of bad weather. She was also my field hockey team mom during my senior year of high school, not to mention that she went with me to every single field hockey camp, tryout, program that I ever had. She helped me sort through college possibilities, helped me with my applications and visited colleges with me.

I guess we can add Net Neutrality to the list of shit nobody cares about now.....

Huh? What most of America knows about Net Neutrality.

Here on DU, one way to insure a single digit response to an OP is to post about net Neutrality. And now nothing.

What can we do? I am sick of signing petitions, they have never done jack shit as far as I am concerned. I've protested in the streets. I've sent letters, I've email'd the shit outta every politician from Kevin Johnson to Barak Obama.

Can somebody organize Texas Musicians?

I've asked many and they all seem like they are for it but don't know how to do it. "Loosely organized" is the term most frequently used. Someone in Texas needs to get them all together in support of Wendy Davis and other democratic candidates and measures. Form a Texas Musicians for Wendy.org PAC and then have the musicians table at their shows etc and donate and do benefits etc.

Seems like they could raise one hell of a lot of money, do at least one HUGE benefit and a bunch of smaller ones.

The one way Texas turns blue is through the music and the musicians. And they need to organize and organize right now. I know a number of female musicians have talked about leaving due to the State's policies on many things. I know they are pissed, especially the women.

Now someone needs to unite them, someone with political skillz who can really do the job and get them organized.
