World's Biggest Commodities Trading Company Excited to Cash in on Drought, Hunger

With the US experiencing a rerun of the drought "Dust Bowl" days of the 1930s and Russia suffering a similar food crisis that could see Vladimir Putin's government banning grain exports, the senior economist of the UN's Food and Agriculture Organisation, Concepcion Calpe, told The Independent: "Private companies like Glencore are playing a game that will make them enormous profits."

Ms Calpe said leading international politicians and banks expecting Glencore to back away from trading in potential starvation and hunger in developing nations for "ethical reasons" would be disappointed.

"This won't happen," she said. "So now is the time to change the rules and regulations about how Glencore and other multinationals such as ADM and Monsanto operate. They know this and have been lobbying heavily around the world to water down and halt any reform."

Open Letter to the Tampa Police Dept. & the RNC

I am here today, to address an issue that is critical to the health and safety of all, during the warm, damp days of the southern fried RNC .
There is an underreported, often ignored, and rarely discussed health condition that could easily devolve into a rash of serious injuries... or worse.
Sadly, it may be the very people who are tasked with providing safety and order, that will be most susceptible to this scourge.
Ironically , it could be the very same people that they are being tasked to serve and protect that may be it's ultimate victims.

The place where any two parts of the human body rub up against each other can cause painful irritation. The same is true of the body politic.
Skin is the human body's largest organ, just as the thin blue line is fast becoming the largest organ in the body of society.
One place in the body politic where constant friction can occur is where the street meets the feet.
This is where first amendment practitioners , experiencing societal discomfort, attempt to petition their rulers for a redress of grievance.
This is where they will rub up against the epidermal layer of the security state..
Freedom of movement, assembly and speech can help alleviate some of the powerful irritation caused when the citizenry rub against their rulers.

Any moment now, a parade of patriotic and otherwise Americans will descend upon Tampa en masse, to practice the First Amendment of America.
By the busload Patriotic citizens burning for justice, itching for freedom, and chafing against the yolk of oppressiveness will arrive..

RT has been nominated for the International Emmy Award in the news category for its coverage of the Occupy Wall Street movement which began in New York last year. RT was one the first channels to thoroughly report about OWS.

RT has been closely following the OWS movement and continues to report on their domestic and global developments from its Moscow and Washington studios in English, Arabic and Spanish.

Two years ago RT became the first Russian channel to be the finalist for the Emmy award in the news category.

"The vehicle, called an Aether Aero, is an eight-bladed vertical takeoff platform that will provide intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance to government agencies, according to Curt Winter, an engineer with United Drones.

The 41/2-foot-wide Aether Aero, which resembles a small helicopter, can fly up to 4,000 feet high and, with a specially built battery, can operate up to four hours at a time, Winter said. It is equipped with a 109x optical zoom camera, can lift up to 50 pounds and is so light it can be picked up with two fingers, according to Chris Knott, United Drones' director of corporate development.

In addition to the unmanned aerial vehicles, United Drones will operate several unmanned ground vehicles, called Wraiths, at the convention. The Wraiths can travel up to 65 mph 'and climb just about anything,' said Winter."

An amazing neighborhood of 75 modern floating homes has popped up in IJburg, Netherlands, paying tribute to close relationship that the Dutch have with water. Using docks as sidewalks and the IJ Lake as a backyard, the flotilla is a large-scale adaptive development in a country that will be disproportionately affected with rising seas due to climate change. The modular homes by Architectenbureau Marlies Rohmer feature a flexible design - wall panels can be swapped for windows to adjust each house to its site. On a hot day residents can jump off the porch for a dip, or in winter they can strap on a pair of ice skates to get around.

For any who believe Occupy to be dead, you need only look into a mirror.

A people-powered movement requires people to participate. The 99% requires that level of participation.

No one will create the Change for the better you wish to see in the world. It will not be given you. You must stand up and Change things for the better.

Or those who wish to Change things for their own benefit, will.
