DeSantis and others took off with the parents rights

Youngkin thing after Youngkin introduced it and it led the metaphorical book burning and very real parent teacher board strife. I bet that pissed off a majority of parents who are used to having level headed schools. Proves once again non Trump GOPs can't start wars inside the country and get away with it.

I'm seeing people paint religion with a broad brush here.

More so than usual. What about Jummy Carter's religion? What about all those churches that put up meme we like outside their houses of worship? What about MLK? Seriously seems like a Russian thing to paint broad brushes and scare away anyone religious from bonding with us over fear of losing democracy. Religion is a human capacity. Some people have it and seek out. I don't know what percentage of the population they are but it is pretty big. What about indigenous people and their belief in the creator? We should not be writing off all religious people as it alienates more than just extremist Christians but all sorts of people from all sorts of backgrounds. What about your cardiologist who is Hindu? What about a new american who immigrated from Mexico and is catholic? Don't paint with a broad brush. Be specific: extremist Christian.

I've heard that is not the case for many Israelis. 80% of Israelis

are against Netanyahu.

My point was that the Arab leaders and the Palestinian protesters are not allowing any context. Context gets you a pause today at 2PM so families can flee to South Gaza from the North like the IDF said Saturday. Only one way. Hard time lines like the ones given gets you Israelis committing war crimes. That is what they want: to have absolute control of how to define things. That may work in a Palestinian traditional marriage as defined by Hamas but it doesn't work in the real world. Really, a cognitive opening takes place during war and it would be nice if that psychological opening included peace on all sides as an aspiration, not just Israel making war on its own, but how it started and how it will end.

Arab leaders insist no talk of what comes next till the war is over?

President Joe Biden in a brief exchange with reporters as he left St. Edmond Roman Catholic Church in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, on Saturday suggested there has been some forward movement in the U.S efforts to persuade Israel to agree to a humanitarian pause. Asked if there was progress, he responded, “Yes.”

In another direct contrast, Arab officials said it was far too soon to discuss one of Blinken’s main agenda items, Gaza’s postwar future. Stopping the killing and restoring steady humanitarian aid are immediate that must be addressed first, they said.

“What happens next? How can we even entertain what will happen next?” said Jordan’s Ayman al-Safadi. “We don’t have all the variables to even start thinking about that.” He added, “We need to get our priorities straight.”

So Arab leaders will not talk two state now, while warfare continues, while Palestinian protesters will not mention the Israeli attack that precipitated the invasion of Gaza?

Lessons on conflict resolution. After George Wallace was shot in a 1972 assassination attempt, Shirley Chisholm visited

Lessons on conflict resolution. After George Wallace was shot in a 1972 assassination attempt, Shirley Chisholm visited him in the hospital and prayed at his bedside. That gesture of compassion reportedly changed Wallace and shifted his stance on segregation.

By bashing religion on the whole, Democrats are not going to get to the hearts of those that are religious. It should be easier to change the hearts of the devout than it was to change Wallaces (I'm sure his heart was mostly still stone). Keep in mind there are many religious Democrats, not just MAGA extremist religious opportunits like the new Speaker of the House. And religions are a human constructs just like the Democracies we so want to live under: if many believe - you can live it. Go After MAGA ones instead. They are the ones trying to destroy who we are as people, how we live and if we are are free. Be specific. Do not generalize. Remember President Jimmy Carter and MLK were devout too. We need people like that in our good fight.

Religious people are religious because they have a need to belong to and support what used to be a merciful God if one were Christian. They are not going to express a rejection of MAGA in some secular way. That is not who they are. Give them a path to reject MAGA in their churches. After all their welfare is as much at stake as Wallace's was. America is on life support. Share that.

Step back far enough, and you can see exactly what is driving so much geopolitics today: Ukraine is trying to join the West. Israel is trying to join a new Middle East. And Russia and Iran have teamed up to try to block both.

Unfortunately, the new G.O.P. House speaker, Mike Johnson, is either too inexperienced or too ideological (or both) to see this (or to care). He is pushing a budget that would help Israel better defend itself but would deprive Ukraine of essential U.S. economic and military assistance to beat back Russia’s onslaught.

And he’s conditioned even the $14.3 billion the administration wants to send to Israel on President Biden agreeing to strip the same amount from funds added for the Internal Revenue Service so it could better collect taxes from cheaters. (Attention, Israel lobby: Do not go along with that game. Next time, aid for Israel will be tied to extreme G.O.P. positions on abortion or guns.)

Thank goodness Johnson was not the speaker during World War II; he and his myopic members might have pressed to fund the war against the Germans in Europe but not against the Japanese in the Pacific. Or they would have agreed to Lend-Lease assistance for the allies only if President Franklin Roosevelt would eliminate the I.R.S. altogether. More guns, more butter, no taxes and two fronts.

President Joe Biden faced off with a heckler in Minnesota Wednesday night who called for Biden to lean on both Israel and Hamas in the hopes of brokering a cease-fire agreement—to which Biden responded by saying he supported a “pause” in the fighting. “Mr. President, if you care about Jewish people, as a rabbi, I need you to call for a cease-fire right now,” the heckler shouted at Biden during a small campaign reception in front of roughly 200 people, who moaned and called out at the heckler as they spoke. “I think we need a pause,” Biden replied, according to a transcript in The Hill. When pressed, he added: “A pause means give time to get the prisoners out. Give time. I’m the guy that convinced Bibi to call for a cease-fire to let the prisoners out. I’m the guy that talked to Sisi to convince him to open the door.” Biden’s comments were largely in line with recent U.S. policy, which changed last week after the administration called for “humanitarian pauses” in an attempt to increase the amount of aid getting into the besieged Gaza Strip.

Please don't say inflation is at a 40 year high without also mentioning that corporate profits are at a 70 year high.

Memo to the Media:

Please don't say inflation is at a 40 year high without also mentioning that corporate profits are at a 70 year high. Give the people the full picture.

I would add that if you teach politicians to not try and stop

children from dying in violent shootings, you can then make them do much less uncaring things with gusto. The capacity for being completely uncaring is established in the politician and renewed every election season and with every shooting of innocents.
