If you have to sabotage the economy to win, your ideas suck

The GOP is Threatening Your Job

by LOLGOP on MAY 29, 2012 in REPUBLICAN-FAIL, REPUBLICANS

If you have to sabotage the economy to win, your ideas suck

Of all the terrible lessons the Republicans have learned since 2009, the worst is: Economic sabotage works.

In 2009, the President’s immediate efforts to stimulate the economy and rescue the auto industry took us from losing 800,000 jobs a month to creating thousands. But, before the policies were even in place, the GOP called it a failure.

KNOW THIS: The Stimulus was the most successful economic effort since World War II. Yet the GOP was able to make it a bad word by employing Karl Rove tactics with Koch brothers money–carefully crafted talking points repeated endlessly.

The way the Stimulus reversed the layoff crisis was obvious. But it couldn’t move fast enough to undo eight years of Bush/Cheney so the public bought into this baldfaced lie and gave the GOP the House of Representatives in 2010. Sabotage worked.

Romney's Former Classmate: "When they debate, Barack will smoke Romney"

"When they debate, Barack will smoke Romney,"

- Sidney Barthwell, Romney's classmate at Cranbrook and Obama's at Harvard Law.

“When they debate, Barack will smoke Romney,” Barthwell, a district court magistrate in Michigan who attended boarding school with Romney and Harvard Law School with Obama, told The Daily.

“Mitt Romney is smart,” he said. “Having said all that, I still think he’s going to get smoked. The best he can do is hopefully come out not looking like a fool. Mitt will find out the hard way as soon as they have their first debate: You don’t debate Obama.”

Barthwell, the only black member of Romney’s 1965 class at Cranbrook Schools, met Obama at Harvard Law, where both joined the Black Law Student Association and pushed for greater diversity among the faculty together.

He said he has “tremendous respect” for both men. But Obama, said Barthwell, made a more striking impression.

UPDATE---

Romney app misspells ‘Amercia’
Posted by Aaron Blake at 10:44 PM ET, 05/29/2012

Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign misspelled the word “America” on its new iPhone app, and it’s already paying a price for it.

In the app, the phrase “A Better America” is misspelled “A Better Amercia.” The misspelling was picked up and tweeted widely Tuesday night, soon spawned a hashtag-driven Twitter meme in which people imagined just what Amercia stood for and what kind of policies Romney had planned for Amercia.

The Romney campaign told The Fix that it had submitted a corrected version of the app to Apple, which has to approve the update.

Here’s a sampling of the reaction:

3 Years After Taxpayer Bailout, Bank of America Ships Jobs Overseas
Your account information will now be accessible to call center workers in the Philippines.
—By Josh Harkinson | Tue May. 29, 2012 3:00 AM PDT

Bank of America, which last fall announced plans to lay off 30,000 workers, is about to go on a hiring spree—overseas.

America's second-largest bank is relocating its business-support operations to the Philippines, according to a high-ranking Filipino government official recently quoted in the Filipino press. The move, which includes a portion of the bank's customer service unit, comes less than three years after Bank of America received a $45 billion federal bailout.

Roman Romulo, deputy majority leader of the Philippine House of Representatives, bragged to the Manila Standard Today earlier this month that the Philippines "has secured its place as the world's fastest-growing outsourcing hub." Romulo pointed out that BofA is the last of the "big four" US banks to move their business-support network to his island nation, where the average family makes $4,700 a year.

A spokesman for Bank of America, Mark Pipitone, was unable to provide additional information about the bank's offshoring plans on Friday. "We have employees and operations where we can ensure that we best serve our customers and clients," he told me in an email.

Wolf Blitzer To Trump: ‘You’re Starting To Sound A Little Ridiculous’

Donald Trump called into CNN Tuesday hours before he was scheduled to hold a fundraiser with Mitt Romney. The topic of Trump’s continued birtherism was the focus of the testy interview. From a rush transcript:

BLITZER: Donald, you’re beginning to sound a little ridiculous, I have to tell you.

TRUMP: You are, Wolf. Let me tell you something, I think you sound ridiculous, and if you’d ask me a question and let me answer it.

BLITZER: Here’s the question, did the conspiracy start in 1961 where the Honolulu Star-Bulletin and the Advertiser contemporaneously published announcements that he was born in Hawaii?

TRUMP: Many people put those announcements in because they wanted to get the benefit because of getting so-called born in this country. Many people did it. It was something done by many people even though they weren’t born in the country. You know and I know it.

Obama Camp: Trump Moment Shows “Lack Of Moral Leadership” By Romney

Obama Camp: Trump Moment Shows “Lack Of Moral Leadership” By Romney

The Obama campaign tore into Mitt Romney for holding a fundraiser with Donald Trump despite Trump’s continued birtherism Tuesday. From Obama deputy campaign manager Stephanie Cutter:

“Mitt Romney’s continued embrace of Donald Trump and refusal to condemn his disgraceful conspiracy theories demonstrates his complete lack of moral leadership. Now he’s even standing by silently as Trump assails John McCain’s courage in standing up to the most extreme and hateful voices in the Republican Party—all in order to raise money for himself. If Mitt Romney lacks the backbone to stand up to a charlatan like Donald Trump because he’s so concerned about lining his campaign’s pockets, what does that say about the kind of president he would be?”
