80% of the country would have handled this crisis better than Trump. That includes Elem. kids

Yes, most 5 year olds would have at least listened to the experts and taken their advice if they were President. A 5 year old being in charge would have saved tens of thousands and done better with the economy just for looking up to smart people. This fool is seriously dangerous and it doesn't get much worse than our Commander of Grief! As for the other 20%? Well, they are dumb as rocks just like Trump.

Startling Visualization of how Spring Break Revelers could be spreading COVID-19

This is a visualization of the movement of a set of people who were present on one beach in Ft. Lauderdale during spring break. The visualization shows where each person went after spring break was over. The result is startling and frightening to say the least.

This visualization was created by Tectonix, which specializes in visualization of massive data sets; data was collected by location technology company X-Mode. The visualization was created by accessing location data for thousands of cell-phones over the month of March and using special geo-spatial big-data analysis software. The data was anonymized to hide user identification. For those who are alarmed by privacy concerns, keep in mind that our location data is available minute-by-minute to cell-phone companies, whether we like or not. (And they also have access to the searches we make, the sites we visit and the texts we write).

Below is the final scary result of the visualization. This is where the revelers went, scattered mostly across the eastern half of the country, some further west. And those are not just blue states. We can only imagine how many of the revelers got infected among the crowds on the beaches, passed it on to hotel-mates, restaurant and hotel staff, airline passengers, and finally to folks in their hometowns. This is like exploding a massive bomb with incendiary shrapnel falling 100’s of miles away.

Two Republican friends have turned on Trump. Say they will vote for Biden.

I usually have to just stay quiet listening to them bash Dems when they get together but the other day the two of them were going off on Trump. Both said several good things about the way Obama ran things with poise and how they wish he had been in charge when all this hit. These two disagreed Trump should have been impeached (why I have no idea) but they respect Romney voting for impeachment. I think deep down they just know Trump is mentally ill. One was talking about this lady who was saying this was all the Democrats fault bringing up all kinds of conspiracy BS and he said he was shaking his head and astounded by what she was saying. I think he said he got back in her face about it. There was real anger at Trump in that room the other day. I know some of the current polling doesn't show it but once this is over there will be months of campaign ads showing how Trump completely dropped the ball on this. His poor polling against Biden shows people just don't trust Trump to handle serious issues. People will NOT want Trump in a leadership position with the chance of something like this or worse happening again. Deep down some may struggle voting for a Democrat but risking Trump having to handle something like this again is going to cause a LOT of people to pull the lever for Biden who might not have a month ago. Way too much at stake when you have national emergencies hitting us.

The Case for Letting Fevers Run Their Course

Fever isn’t an illness. It’s the body’s attempt to fight illness. So when we treat fever with antipyretics, like acetaminophen (Tylenol) or ibuprofen, we only handcuff an important part of our immune response. Although it might seem counterintuitive, several studies have now shown that antipyretics increase the severity of infections. The time has come to get over our fear of fever.

Much has been learned about the importance of fever from studies in animals, which can be divided into two groups: ectotherms and endotherms.

Ectotherms regulate their body temperature using the environment. For example, when lizards want to raise their temperature, they climb to the top of a rock and sun themselves. When they want to lower it, they crawl under the rock.

Mammals, on the other hand, are endotherms. To increase our body temperature, our immune system releases chemicals called cytokines (like interleukin-1, interleukin-2, interleukin-6, interleukin-8, tumor necrosis factor, and others) that travel to a part of the brain called the hypothalamus and reset the body temperature to a higher level. To achieve a higher temperature we shiver, crawl under the covers, wear warm clothing, and shunt blood flow away from our arms and legs and toward our core.

Pastor again defies state order not to hold large gatherings. Says 1,000 people came to his church

That area is a hotbed for the virus right now. This is totally playing with fire!

Remember the Louisiana pastor who defied the governor's order not to hold gatherings larger than 50 people?

He held services again on Sunday, and he plans to do so yet again on Tuesday night.
On Sunday, Pastor Tony Spell said, his Life Tabernacle Church in Baton Rouge drew about 1,000 people to its services, in part by busing people in from across five parishes.
On Tuesday evening, the pastor plans to hold services again, despite the governor's stay-at-home orders, a petition seeking his arrest and a flood of criticism from fellow Christians.
"If they close every door in this city, then I will close my doors," Spell told CNN on Tuesday. "But you can't say the retailers are essential but the church is not. That is a persecution of the faith."
Spell has told CNN he believes the pandemic is "politically motivated."
