Why the "hamas could end this at any time" excuse doesn't work
Imagine if a soldier pointed a gun to your head and said, "Someone in your town, named Charlie, killed our brother. If Charlie doesn't surrender, I'm going to kill you, and it will be Charlie's fault!"
The soldier starts walking up and down your neighborhood, shooting everyone in the head, each time blaming Charlie.
"Charlie killed you! Not me."
In other words, whether you live or die is dependent upon what a criminal named Charlie does.
Does that sound fair or logical to you?
The bombs that are flattening Gaza are coming from Israel. Nobody else. The 18,000 mostly women, babies, children and doctors who have been killed, were killed by Israel.
And as far as the hamas terrorists? They were all allowed to escape after 10/7/23, when Israel's military waited up to 26 hours before responding to the attack. They're probably not even in Gaza anymore, thanks to bibi's massive failure of a response to an attack that he had over a year to prepare for. He failed miserably and is now bombing innocent people as a cruel deflection and distraction.

If there are sides. I think we're all on the same side.
I understand the anger and outrage at what may appear to be flippant responses to Israeli women being raped. Let me be 100% clear: The violent and deadly attack on October 7th was horrible and inexcusable. The raping of Israeli women is an absolutely terrible war crime! No ifs ands or buts about it. The taunting and harassment of Jewish people in this country and other countries is antisemitism. Period!
All of that said, it would be really nice if everyone walked away from this conversation with a little bit of self-awareness, which would mean acknowledging that the same anger and outrage is felt on the other side when any reference to thousands of Palestinians women and children being bombed and killed is dismissed or deflected with a reference to "hamas."

Proportionally, 15,000 killed in Gaza is equivalent to over 2.4 million Americans. Can you imagine if another country killed that many of us in response to the actions of American terrorists? Would it be okay?
I'm not bringing this up to be another "yeah but" on this board, but because I'm hoping that maybe we can start listening to each other instead of talking at each other. I still believe that the vast majority of us are on the same side.
This conflict is so horrifying and the worldwide fallout is also disgusting to watch. Democrats and progressives seem to be turning against each other. Comments are being taken out of context for the purpose of silencing or demonizing the other. The pain is real. The entire situation is awful and what really sucks is that this might be what provides the opening for trump to get back in office!

"Let them hang themselves"
I think the latest set of polls are telling us that the "stand back and let them hang themselves" approach does not work in this country.
We look at the chaos among republicans and many of us incorrectly assume that the American people are watching and absorbing what is happening. They're not.
Another thing that struck me with the polls is that something like 53 or 54% of Americans are saying that Biden's policies have personally hurt them. Are some Americans incorrectly assuming that the abortion bans are a result of President Biden's policies? I've said before that we have to be very clear on who is responsible for the abortion bans.
What needs to happen now? Make sure everyone is clear on who is responsible for the abortion bans, for inflation, and for the fucked up tax policies.
Right now there is a right-wing speaker of the House who claims to have had a black son and who has acknowledged the racial disparities that exist. Make him prove it: Make a second push for the George Floyd police reform bill and voting rights.
Lastly, reverse the policies related to reporting zelle, PayPal, cash app, etc income. I'm not sure who is responsible for changing that rule but it is not being received well by many people.
If anyone is harmed, doesn't that guarantee prison time for tfig?
I don't understand 4x Indicted Guy's endgame. He's wishing harm and death to all these people, yet if a single person is harmed, he will be imprisoned. He might scare jurors, but a judge will lock his ass up and gag him, pretrial. Or at least, I hope so?
