lakercub's JournalWill Perkins has died
Anyone who was in Colorado, especially Colorado Springs, should remember Perkins as one of the leading bigot voices during the Amendment 2 nonsense in the early 90s. People like Perkins and Focus on the Family are the people who gave Colorado Springs the deserved reputation as a religious right, conservative nightmare.
He was 91...more evidence that the good die young. The link is a Gazette article which may require subscription...and it isn't worth subscribing to. But it's where I saw the headline so I linked it.

Trump event at UCCS stirs controversy
Source: Colorado Springs Independent
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump will speak at 2 p.m. Friday at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs' Gallogly Event Center.
Not everyone is happy about it.
In a letter released to the public, Chancellor Pam Shockley- Zalaback noted that, "Many faculty, staff, and students have expressed disappointment and anger at Mr. Trump's appearance on our campus."

My Alma Mater. Good for the faculty. The school has to host him, unfortunately, bit at least the staff isn't letting it happen without comment.
Went to freeperville to see if they were mad at Pence
now that he wants to "clarify" his bigot law. They are. Further, the freepers are perfectly willing to come right out and say they liked this law because they want to discriminate.
But then I came across this gem:

Discrimination is applying different standards to different people. For example, requiring whites to have IQs of 130 to get into M.I.T. while allowing in blacks with IQs of 85 is discrimination. However, if the SAME standard or law applies to EVERYONE, then there is NO discrimination. For example, requiring everyone to marry within ones one race treats everyone the same, and thus, no discrimination, since there is no victim. Or requiring everyone who wants to marry, to marry one of the opposite sex, is NOT discriminatory, since the same law applies to all.

Homophobia, racism, and even anti-interracial marriage. Solid group, those freepers.
Lamborn backs 'so help me God' bill
I debated putting this in the Colorado forum, since we in Colorado Springs have inflicted the wretched Doug Lamborn on the rest of the country. But it's a Texas congressman who authored this crappy bill. Mikey Weinstein's take on that congressman is right on.
The beginning:
We first reported on the "so help me God" issue in November 2013, sparked by a billboard sponsored by the Military Religious Freedom Foundation.

Yikes! This is Klingenschmitt's website and it's a whole lot of crazy. State House District 15 is the Powers corridor in the Springs.
