to the folks standing in a VERY long line, waiting to donate blood. And the photo of the two big packs of water bottles for some rehydration from standing in the hot sun in that VERY long line, waiting to donate blood.

Blessings on those people. They're adding a little bit of light to an incredibly gloomy day. Angels among us. Living up to the sage advice Mr. Rogers' mother told him when he was little: "Look for the helpers."

When you donate blood, you are REALLY giving of yourself. At the most basic.

Watching the pizza guy passing slices out, and seeing the bottled water donations, that kind of thing shows you there are still angels in our midst.

A comfort, however small, to know those gestures haven't died out completely.

Rick Wilson is one of quite a few “reformed” or “rehabilitated” former GOPers who couldn’t stay in the fold because they were disgusted by trump. One wants to think they’ve genuinely seen the light and come to their senses, and renounced that shitty party and its glorification of selfishness and greed. And I believe in redemption. But I’m growing uncomfortable with the idea of trusting them. I find myself wondering how quickly folks like him will revert back to their lizard-brain selves after trump is finally gone.
