Good one.

I dream of that alternate reality too. But the bad guys would have waged constant war on her. You think they obstructed President Obama? Shit - the persecution would be nonstop.

They would have moved heaven, earth, purgatory, AND hell to stop her from getting a hangnail trimmed, much less accomplish anything for America.

That shows BOTH of Oregon's senators on the side of the light.

Merkley demonstrated that, earlier, with his attempts to get into those baby jails at the border.

But we knew that about Wyden and Merkley already. They’re very much among the good guys. The whole West Coast is blessed. California and Washington state, too. Not only at the federal level but at the state level. It makes a HUGE difference to have Dems in command.

And one other thing strikes me as MOST intriguing

The way he refers to the FBI. He does not trash them even after they raided his various properties. He did not lambaste them as “jackbooted thugs” who “broke down his doors in the dead of night” or “stomped all over his privacy or his civil rights” or some such defensive persecution complex whining. “Courteous, respectful, and professional,” as he put it. They shook hands at the end. All was peaceable and very much above board and by the rules. No open posturing for combat. No in-yet-face. No “sez WHO” schtick here. He sounds like he’s clearly signaling he’ll be cooperative.

The FBI and prosecutors are likely gonna see that as a positive - a tip-off that they can do business with him and he’s not gonna be a jerk. He’s setting himself up as a sympathetic character especially toward law enforcement.

Yeah but that's a double-edged sword.

If he gets a pardon, that does not shut him up. As I understand it, accepting a pardon means an admission of guilt. As such he could not be charged or convicted on any of those counts covered by the pardon, but he sure could testify about it. The pardon means he couldn’t self-incriminate on those counts. His testimony could doom LOTS of vile people, up to and including his feckless lying treasonous former boss.

Sing, Michael! SING!

Go after the tax returns, Maxine! If you become chair of that committee,

that means SUBPOENA POWER is ALL YOURS!

And Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan.

California certainly has a few sins on its ledger. Atonement will take forever. After all, seems to me Ronald Reagan was the beginning of the far right’s latest attempt to take over the country. He made it appealing and seemingly harmless with his communication skills and that amiable old “aw shucks” demeanor of his. That “kindly old Uncle Dutch” thing he had. He put a human face on CONservative extremism. And he energized and legitimized the far right hard-line evangelical movement too, and gave it a “patron saint”.

I’ve long regarded Reagan as the root of all evil. A Trojan Horse of CONservative aggression. All wrapped up in this “harmless and dear” old man with the crooked smile, the fun sense of humor, and the ready one-liner. When he took power in late 1980, I feared that he’d prove to be the most dangerous man in America - because of his considerable gifts in the salesmanship department. He could sweet-talk and sell like crazy, and paint ideas so alluringly that far too man people just bought it all without even test-tasting, kicking the tires, or getting a second opinion. That acting background paid off BIGTIME.

Poor little thing. Doesn't deserve ANY of this.

Wretched stuff. Just SHAMEFUL.

About calimary

Female. Retired. Wife-Mom-Grandma. Approx. 30 years in broadcasting, at least 20 of those in news biz. Taurus. Loves chocolate - preferably without nuts or cocoanut. Animal lover. Rock-hound from pre-school age. Proud Democrat for life. Ardent environmentalist and pro-choicer. Hoping to use my skills set for the greater good. Still married to the same guy for 40+ years. Probably because he's a proud Democrat, too. Penmanship absolutely stinks, so I'm glad I'm a fast typist! I will always love Hillary and she will always be my President.
