And as for that cartoon in the OP - I think the latest written outbursts from him present evidence that our poor dear "Fat Tony" is steadily and manifestly becoming unspooled. His sanity can very reasonably be questioned. His competence to remain on the highest court in the land is now rather dubious. Highly questionable at this point. Has he been to see a doctor lately?

Fuck that. Two of the happiest marriages I know of, among my white girlfriends, are

the two who married black men. Both couples are just oozing a very pure and genuine love. Neither woman behaves or regards herself as some sort of victim, and certainly not someone's property!

The really sad thing is - this delusional young man who murdered the nine faithful in Charleston, if he had ever had any dreams of eventually finding a sustaining love and true partnership and the deepest mutual affection that comes from a rock-solid marriage, he would give anything to have the kind of loving, supportive relationship that these two couples have.

I still have this picture in my head of my friend Kathleen's first dance with her brand new husband at their post-wedding reception. His skin is as dark as hers is pale. They're gazing at each other with a look of near-rapture that telegraphs "DAYUM, I found you! I can't believe I FINALLY found you!!!!" You can just see it in both their faces. I'm getting all warm and weak-kneed and watery-eyed just thinking about it. One of the coolest photos I have ever seen! I've known her for years. But I've never seen her as happy as she's been since he came into her life.

There are tons of examples that can be found in the New Testament to reinforce this message. Tons! Almost too many to remember at once. Kinda indicates where Jesus's mindset was, does it not? Seems pretty doggone obvious to me. If there's one thing Jesus was, He was consistent.

You say po-tay-to, I say po-tah-to. There should be a response EVERY TIME. I don't think our side has fought back hard enough. EVERY TIME somebody asserts "War of Northern Aggression," that should be the immediate response. Cover their slogan with OURS. Correct the record every time they speak up to try to distort it. Check the bad behavior EVERY TIME it happens. Immediate response. EVERY time. It has to be attached. It has to be open and somewhat blatant. They can't just be allowed to say "War of Northern Aggression" and just have it lay there in every ear with no answer, no counter-response, no fact-checking, no correction, no rebuttal. There should ALWAYS be a retort. There should ALWAYS be an answer back. There should ALWAYS be a counter-response.

Just like when somebody sprays graffiti on a wall. If you don't want that graffiti to stay up and establish and become a permanent thing - or somehow, by default, an ACCEPTED thing, then you paint over it. As soon as possible! THIS is one way we can "paint over" the stupid, wrong, and in this case racist, erase it, make it gone, help it disappear, override it, overrun it, overrule it.

Seems to me that's why it's been able to linger and fester and establish. Because there has been no counter. There has never been anything to counter it. It's just been stated and left there - just like when there are two opposing sides on one of the many panel discussions, and the bad guy (the CON) is allowed to get the last word. THAT is what remains in the air, and in people's ears, and in people's memory. Whatever is the last word becomes the takeaway. WE NEED TO MAKE SURE THAT LAST WORD IS OURS.

I can remember "dime" bags. I remember when four of us would go in on a $20 bag - $5 per person - and then we were REALLY gonna be living it up that night. A $20 bag was a BIG deal back in the early '70s.
