DAMMIT!

This is becoming my weekly dilemma.

In my new Indivisible group, I volunteered to help assemble the weekly “CTA” email to the general group (Calls To Action”). Each week’s issue begins with a quote. I seriously enjoy collecting quotes, so I kinda took that on.

Last week I wound up with eight, and had to pick one. We’re working up the next one tomorrow morning, and I have at least four as of now...

Correction - at least five. Forgot one by Rudy Giuliani - "they may have a different version of the truth than we do."

Interesting idea. Our CONS' Criminality Collection!

I’m no legal expert but sure seems to me we’ve had a few near-smoking guns by now. I keep asking - “how is this NOT collusion?” And yeah, I know, the legal term is not “collusion” but rather, “conspiracy”. With all these moving parts and multiple players, “conspiracy” does fit well also.

Ryan is complicit as hell. Could that be why he's getting out now?

Trying to beat the heat before it turns up under him?

Stealing this, Hekate!

Ayn Rand in drag.

That's another good one!

What? You're against falling on one knee to a Higher Principle?

Meh - the heck with them. We should be aiming this at the middle-of-the-roaders.

And the people who are just really upset about this but are only hearing ONE side of the argument. OR those folks who actually feel the way we do about this, but don't have the nerve to speak out about it (perhaps they're surrounded by family or their community or their red state and they feel alone and isolated in their feelings). Has ANYBODY spoken up to point out how peaceable and even noble this is, aside from Michael Steele earlier today?

Anybody offer an opposing take on it, or defense of it? The simple act of taking a knee has been totally perverted and poisoned by the resentniks and deplorables and others who probably just have an issue with the nerve of those black people to speak out against how badly too many of their mothers and fathers and brothers and sisters have been treated?

I swear - some of those old newsreels during the 50s and 60s when schools and other institutions and outlets (down to the coffee shop counters, bathrooms, and for Pete's Sake, drinking fountains) in the South were finally ordered integrated. The white authorities set attack dogs on people. Shot firehoses at them. Fellow human beings, being treated so wretchedly. I swear - it's sickening. And deeply embarrassing. We should have known better back then. But lo these many years later, there's no excuse. We should already know better by now.

MAN, no kidding.

Every day a new nightmare.

That's GREAT!!!!! So glad to hear it! Thanks for letting us know!

Isn't it amazing, these threads? People flock to them to offer comfort and support, and that's wonderful just in and of itself. HOWEVER, it continues to pay dividends long after the first day or two of posting. You can go back and read through it all, and feel encouraged and uplifted all over again. And usually when you go back to it later, even more people have checked in to add their own good wishes.

It's the gift that keeps on giving, in the truest sense of the word!

Welcome to DU, Marty Marzipan.

I sure feel the same way.

I have to suppress how I feel when I tumble into political argument with a couple of friends who are trump supporters.

I'll keep at it, but it's getting harder to suppress as the weeks wear on. I can't help going back to the same question that every trump supporter should be asked, as this nightmare grows: "Then what does that say about YOU?"

That parent/child separation abomination hurts my heart.

I can't believe we've stooped this low, as a nation. I can't believe people aren't protesting in the streets! This is a black mark on all our souls if we don't at least try to do something about it. To intentionally cause pain and heartbreak upon some of the most vulnerable people on earth - immigrants escaping war, threats, danger, destitution, and hopelessness - I can't even believe this has been considered as a doable state-sanctioned response, much less implemented.

Sure doesn't conform to that "least of My brethren" thing in Matthew 25:35-45.

About calimary

Female. Retired. Wife-Mom-Grandma. Approx. 30 years in broadcasting, at least 20 of those in news biz. Taurus. Loves chocolate - preferably without nuts or cocoanut. Animal lover. Rock-hound from pre-school age. Proud Democrat for life. Ardent environmentalist and pro-choicer. Hoping to use my skills set for the greater good. Still married to the same guy for 40+ years. Probably because he's a proud Democrat, too. Penmanship absolutely stinks, so I'm glad I'm a fast typist! I will always love Hillary and she will always be my President.
