Welcome to DU, thinkingagain!

It's all about him. First, last, and always. Like an infant who knows only to grab anything within reach and put it into his/her mouth.

And where he shits is - anywhere and anytime he feels like it. Because there'll be somebody "more responsible" to come along and clean up the mess, and change his widdle diaper.

Now there's some arrested development

Yeah, me, too. Never thought he was much of a sex symbol, either.

To this latest comment I shall say a polite "no thanks, Matt."

Thanks! And as for our friend Heidi - she may be listening a lot more carefully right now.

She's up for reelection in the very next cycle: 2018. Which will be here before you know it. She clearly knows that, too.

Tell EVERYBODY.

Your own reps (three of 'em - 2 Senators, 1 Congressmember), AND maybe one or two others. PARTICULARLY if you've donated to their campaigns in the past. My Heidi Heitkamp experience here - she's North Dakota. I'm a Californian. But by Jove I donated to her campaign and nobody on her end made ANY attempt to turn my California money away.

The Indivisible Guide recommends focusing on your own people. Yes. That's FIRST. Particularly if you're "represented" by someone from the GOP. That's FIRST.

Proof that it works, in Elle magazine, of all places! With none other than Heidi Heitkamp of all people!

But I submit it helps to spread the message a wee bit farther, if you can, and if you have the time. ESPECIALLY if some Dem in another state has enjoyed your financial largesse when their campaigns came begging in your inbox for donations.

OUCH!!!

Mic drop. Right on trump's head.

GUYS: Here's PROOF that avalanching your reps with calls/emails/activism - WORKS.

From "Elle" magazine of all places. I'm glad to see this is spreading so far, and in so many unconventional places, too!

One of my own samples: Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota - Not my Senator but I DID send her campaign donations when she was trying to win a Senate seat in 2012. Which means she's up for reelection in the next cycle (2018).

Of the 1,400 people who've contacted Sen. Heidi Heitkamp (D-ND) to share their opinions on Betsy DeVos, the woman President Donald Trump has tapped to lead the Department of Education despite her curious lack of professional experience, approximately 1,330 of them opposed her confirmation. Don't ask DeVos to calculate it, but that's 95 percent.

Sen. Heitkamp has heard their voices. Earlier this morning, she announced that she could not support DeVos and would vote against her confirmation. She shared three statements on Twitter from three women in North Dakota, expressing their concern over DeVos' apparent "disregard for students with disabilities" and "half-hearted approach" to understanding how public education works nationwide: "We expect and request better for our children."

The fact that Heitkamp linked her decision to the number of constituents who called or wrote in proves that at least some of our elected officials are still responsive to the people they represent.

In other words, call like our democratic process depends on it. Because turns out, it does.

I talked about it (and her) more, here: http://www.democraticunderground.com/10028553284

I just thought I'd kick this thread back up.

I want more people to see it. And now that Heidi Heitkamp has been busy caving and rubber-stamping trump's cabinet picks, looks like it's time to call and remind her people again - about that California money that I sent to help her campaign to get into the Senate in the first place. NOBODY thought to return my donation because it wasn't from North Dakota. They sure were happy to process it back then. So they can damn well sit still and listen to me NOW.

And btw - as far as sending her campaign donations now that she'll soon be hoping to get her lease renewed, I WON'T be making that mistake again.

February 2, 2017

Two VERY different things.

Why do you think the CONS target programs like "Souls to the Polls" and other activities that actually Get. People. BODILY. Out. To Vote.?

February 2, 2017

GOOD!

I hope this means that some of these GOP rubber-stampers won't be running unopposed any longer. We've literally handed these assholes victories in some districts without even firing a shot. Or maybe more accurately - without even BOTHERING EVEN TO TRY to fire a shot. Hell, without even suiting up for battle in the first place.

That's why we did so much better under Howard Dean as DNC Chair. His 50-state strategy was a winner. We got the House back, we got the Senate back, and then we got the White House back. Because he refused to write off ANY seat ANYWHERE. I kept reading reports and accounts about how there were Democrats there, in those districts, who'd finally been thrown a lifeline after being left on "ignore" for years. Some of them, as I'd read, had been PLEADING for help, for resources, for advice, for even minimal involvement, because they'd been ready to work and ready to try to make some inroads - and they were dismissed, ignored, written off, left quite literally adrift.

With the arrival of Howard Dean, SOMEBODY finally woke up and realized that there were people to fight for in those districts, people who were willing to fight if only they had a little help or backing. Previously, AND I'd wager - after that, we "shrewdly" (AHEM! Cough-cough) decided to put some of these back on ignore. No point in contesting them. File them away in the "Why Bother" file. Well, that's NO strategy for any victory or re-conquest - or growth or even any base-line sustenance! It's nothing but COMPLETELY AND SPECTACULARLY IDIOTIC!!!

Poor little thing, probably scared to death!

What a disgrace.

What a FUCKING DISGRACE.

About calimary

Female. Retired. Wife-Mom-Grandma. Approx. 30 years in broadcasting, at least 20 of those in news biz. Taurus. Loves chocolate - preferably without nuts or cocoanut. Animal lover. Rock-hound from pre-school age. Proud Democrat for life. Ardent environmentalist and pro-choicer. Hoping to use my skills set for the greater good. Still married to the same guy for 40+ years. Probably because he's a proud Democrat, too. Penmanship absolutely stinks, so I'm glad I'm a fast typist! I will always love Hillary and she will always be my President.
