Help needed: Anybody remember what Claire McCaskill called Alan Dershowitz on MSNBC this morning?

I THINK it was Claire McCaskill. I didn't get to my notes in time to write it down, but it was just EXQUISITE! Something to the effect of Alan "Thinks-He's-a-Lawyer" Dershowitz.

Thanks.

I'm really starting to appreciate Rick Wilson.

I rue the day he goes back into the GOP tent and turns his literary guns on us again. Which, I suspect, is inevitable. Unless h’s had a wholesale change of heart and awakened to the utter wrongness of the party on which he’s hung his hat for so long.

Just WUNNNNNNNNderful!!!

Thank you for these photos!

BOOM! In other words, "follow the money."

Yep. Who’s bought ‘n’ paid for. Who is now owned. A wholly-owned subsidiary.

It was true back when “Deep Throat” advised Bob Woodward during Watergate. And it’s still true now.

It's been like that for a long time. Access! Gotta have that ACCESS!!!

It used to infuriate me during bush/cheney when everybody went easy on certified war criminals because if they didn’t, they knew they’d lose ACCESS.

I found myself wishing - okay, you’ve been frozen out because you asked the wrong questions! Then find somebody else to put those questions to. POINT OUT that you’re being frozen out because they don’t like having to answer for what they’re doing about those “black ops” sites where they’re TORTURING people and the lies they’re telling about the imaginary WMD and all the justifications they made up for invading Iraq (having made a howlingly huge case of trying to link Iraq and Saddam Hussein to the 9/11 attack).

I remember being so angry than nobody in the press sought to find credible others to turn to, repeatedly, for answers or at least some illumination for their questions. And use them. And keep giving them face time and radio time and column inches so they get elevated in stature and thereby start speaking with a louder and increasingly prominent voice. And get around the obstruction and the attempt to “manage” and suppress the media.

Instead, the press was absolutely supine. Rolled over on their backs in a willingly submissive position. Hell, you’re not gonna make, or break, anything significant that way from the Deceit Squad that the White House strategically selected to fan out across the Sunday talk show scene.

Doing so with journalists like Amy Goodman wasn’t good enough. The mass audiences and low-information voters aren’t watching “Democracy Now.” You needed the marquee shows that got broad-based network penetration and recognizable ratings. No offense meant to the esteemed “Democracy Now” program but it has a limited audience of people who already know the truth. You needed to reach the so-called “great unwashed” who need the shiny objects and the lights and colors and the “Watch the birdie! Look at the birdie!” visual pizzazz (like Pox Noise figured out).

By now, of course, the network TV scene is much different. And more fragmented. But back then the major networks were dominant, and were basically the ballgame. Kingpins. Now, it’s different. They’re just part of the pack. (Kinda like the Mitt Romney trajectory, come to think of it. Used to be governor. The head of the ticket for president. The main guy. The principle. The voice that counted. The leader. Now he’s just one of 100, and he’s probably hoping he can shape a stand-out position, a leader position now.)

I find his positioning interesting to watch.

Romney’s been a Governor and a presidential candidate. That is - someone used to being in the Number-One position. The Alpha.

In the Senate, he is one-of-100. He won’t be in an officially-designated leader or “top-dog” position unless he eventually maneuvers to replace Ol’ Moscow as caucus leader.

Maybe this is part of what we’re now seeing? An attempt to stand out from the pack and assert a leader position. He certainly stands out now.

I wouldn't be surprised if they have articles of impeachment

Ready to go after the next Democratic President completes his or her inaugural speech.

Back during the Bill Clinton impeachment I HEARD operatives saying it was “payback for Nixon”. I remember that. And I remember being pissed off about that.

With the exceptions of Adam Schiff and the Pelosi group shot,

I’d like to see every individual pictured in that thread behind bars.

Yep.

About calimary

Female. Retired. Wife-Mom-Grandma. Approx. 30 years in broadcasting, at least 20 of those in news biz. Taurus. Loves chocolate - preferably without nuts or cocoanut. Animal lover. Rock-hound from pre-school age. Proud Democrat for life. Ardent environmentalist and pro-choicer. Hoping to use my skills set for the greater good. Still married to the same guy for 40+ years. Probably because he's a proud Democrat, too. Penmanship absolutely stinks, so I'm glad I'm a fast typist! I will always love Hillary and she will always be my President.
