INDEED! Anybody know how many were at the so-called pro-life march?

I would bet the Women's March last weekend was far larger. I would expect that we had the demonstrable majorities at the march that reflect the majorities in the population at large. More of us are pro-choice, too.

But a continuing problem I have with these people involves how

- you can't be pro-life if you're pro-death penalty.

- you can't be pro-life if you deny climate change.

- you can't be pro-life if you do things or cause things to be done that hurt or impoverish or set back those in need.

- you can't be pro-life if you try to end safe, legal, and affordable abortion services. They cut back on Planned Parenthood, drastically, in Texas. The next round of testing and statistics-keeping showed that when fewer PP clinics were available, because PP offers prenatal care and other women's health services, more women died. The death rate doubled. Pro-life, 'eh?

- you can't be pro-life if you fight reasonable gun controls.

- you can't be pro-life if you want to repeal the Affordable Care Act. We're hearing too many personal accounts of people who WOULD be dead by now if not for the dreaded Obamacare giving them access, at long last, to affordable health care.

- you can't be pro-life if you're gung-ho for war. War kills people and ecosystems, i.e.: THE PLANET.

I think we need to drive this point home and repeat, repeat, repeat!

And what's most pathetic, for me, is thinking back to all those photos of little old ladies

at teabagger rallies, often in wheelchairs, holding up signs saying "Keep Your Hands OFF My Medicare!"

What the hell are they thinking? What planet do they think they're living on? What reality do they think they're living IN?

I wish our tribe would start helping folks like them to connect the dots. It has to be said and repeated ad nauseam:

republi-CONS DON'T WANT TO HELP YOU!!!

They don't believe in it! They don't think government should do that! They say you're on your own. "Personal Responsibility!" And that's really codespeak for - you're on yer own, chump! It's not our job to help you!

And mind you, MANY of these cads on the CON side claim to be Catholic (here's looking at YOU, Paul Ryan) or some other Christian denomination. And yet not one of them ever quotes that part of Scripture that quotes Jesus as saying "whatever you do to the least of these, you do to Me."

Or

New International Version
"He will reply, 'Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.'" - Matthew 25:45

Welcome to DU, AllaN01Bear!

Well, this would be two CON "presidents" - two ILLEGITIMATE "presidents" who had to cheat to win - who seem to share the same view of the Constitution. Remember when dubya was quoted as saying "it's just a goddamn piece of paper"?

I guess we've regressed back at least that far, again.

"No"? "GOOD!"

January 27, 2017

YES from me, too, Stonepounder!

Even if you can't stand them, they still need to hear from you! They need to start feeling a "build the wall" sense developing around them, as in walls closing in around them.

They still need to hear from you.

Just imagine - you add your voice in with both of 'em (PLUS your Congress-critter), and contribute to what I enjoy imagining, myself: Just imagine: every morning when they wake up, even before they completely DO wake up, the VERY first thing they do is reach over to the Maalox bottle on their bedside table. EVERY morning.

I had that experience, myself, at one station where a very good situation abruptly changed in upper management, and very soon became very bad. And when THAT started happening, I knew my body was telling me loudly and clearly that it was time to find another gig get the hell outta there.

You and I are of like mind on this.

The more we can turn him into a joke, and the bigger the joke, the better. Does he think HE has a monopoly on destroying trust in institutions like government? Like the press? Like the political system? How 'bout HE take it in the shorts on that? No wonder he hates SNL! Now that Jon Stewart and David Letterman aren't around anymore and Jimmy Fallon is there to muss up his hair, we at least have a few others to hang our hopes on, like Alec Baldwin & Co., and Bill Maher.

ANYTHING we can do to assist in that regard: belittle, make a laughingstock of, sneer at, accentuate the negative, fault-find, keep repeating the word "LIE", criticize, and absolutely de-legitimize him - diminishes him in public (and he KNOWS it) and makes him feel small. Scuffs up his thinner-than-thin skin, picks at his scabs, makes him miserable, makes him lose sleep, makes him lash out. If we're lucky we can provoke enough of that so Congress will decide somebody needs to throw a butterfly net over his head and move him into a padded cell where he can't hurt anybody.

The idea is to intervene BEFORE he goes over the edge - of the world.

MOST interesting analogy, GliderGuider.

Sure seems to fit. Kinda like a custom glove.

When I saw that, I must admit, I was deeply disappointed.

I'd rather see OUR tribe say "NO" more often and much more emphatically.

If they don't, seems to me they're little more than cavemen and cavewomen.

Totally with you on this, Puzzler.

And at the same time, I agree that DownriverDem makes a MOST important and valid point, too. I loathe Mike Pence. He's already proved himself to be a horrorshow for the LGBTQ community, and also for women's rights. He'd be the Christian/Sharia Law "president." He's certainly one of the great 13th-Century minds of our time.

But he's also got a planet to help protect. We're already busy alienating our next-door neighbors (Mexico), China, and who knows who's next? And it's only Week One. I'd hate to be under Pence's rule, and have his brand of religion shoved down our throats. But donald trump is a clear and present danger, as the thin-skinned, narcissistic, reckless, feckless congenital and pathological LIAR that he is. He's in so far over his head that we're ALL in danger. Not just in this country, either, but worldwide. And this new attempt by his "administration" to silence dissent and muzzle facts and truths in what appears to be a growing number of agencies and departments is frightening as all-get-out.

This. Is. BAD. And it won't end well unless trump is IMPEACHED and removed from office. Let him go back to his golden tower and book a golden-showers-to-go service.

About calimary

Female. Retired. Wife-Mom-Grandma. Approx. 30 years in broadcasting, at least 20 of those in news biz. Taurus. Loves chocolate - preferably without nuts or cocoanut. Animal lover. Rock-hound from pre-school age. Proud Democrat for life. Ardent environmentalist and pro-choicer. Hoping to use my skills set for the greater good. Still married to the same guy for 40+ years. Probably because he's a proud Democrat, too. Penmanship absolutely stinks, so I'm glad I'm a fast typist! I will always love Hillary and she will always be my President.
