Welcome to DU, anti partisan!

Great to have you with us! Must say I am totally dumbfounded that ANYONE would consider that individual as presidential material. ICK! Even without googling him...

Wow! Welcome to DU, Ernest Partridge!

Very glad you're here! I've enjoyed reading your Crisis Papers. This is cool, just in general, but also this particular column. And I hope its predictions are correct! And I also wonder who among those under subpoena will give up the ghost, as it were? Wonder if David Samson is making "arrangements" to supply financial support and future employment for them should they have to pay any serious price? After all, if they take a fall and he's spared, isn't he still in charge of enough big-ticket commissions and offices and legal/financial concerns into which they could be absorbed? "Keep your mouth SHUT. And don't worry if you have to resign. You'll be taken care of." Funny - this may force a handful of the 1% to become actual job creators!

WHEN do people like this fellow finally open their eyes?

What does it take? What is it finally gonna take?

I'm still waiting for somebody on "that" stage (one of the debates during the GOP primary season in 2012) to denounce those who booed that soldier IN the field, IN the battle zone, IN harm's way, who asked a question involving discrimination against gays - and admitting he's gay as well. And dammit! People in that audience BOOed him!!!!!! Wonder how many of them served? How many of them put their own asses in harm's way for their country? How many of them saw combat as this man did - even while he was asking his question - FROM in the field of battle.

Further, and even more outrageous, those GOP candidates - ALL of them, every last miserable one of them - stood there and said nothing. NOT ONE of them asked for silence, interrupted to tell the audience to shut up or AT LEAST show some respect, not ONE of them even thanked this soldier on active duty in THEIR war for his service and his sacrifice. Not ONE. Ooooh can't do that! Mustn't touch! The Gay, after all, dontchaknow. Not ONE of them bothered to make a statement of how we DON'T do that to our soldiers in harm's way, and we don't judge - gay or not, or how shocking and disgraceful that was.

Yep, I'm still waiting for somebody - anybody there that night, either audience member OR debate moderator(s), OR candidates, ANYBODY to step forward and comment on that and apologize.

Yep. Lotta crickets chirping out there. Still.

Yes indeed!

But I did like the way it rhymes. And because of bush/cheney, the "my way or the highway" statement always burns. So I find it particularly sweet and savory to see that phrase toyed with and turned - well - okay, let's be honest here: MY way!

January 20, 2014

"Do it my way... or I'll shut down your highway!"

Indescribably delicious!

OUCH! That certainly draws blood!

Love it! How many times has this bullying asshole leaned on people til it hurt, or threatened to do that? Now that HE'S being leaned on, he can't take it. That is typical of a bully. They sure can dish it out, alright. But they can't take even a whisper of it coming back at them.

Welcome to DU, bvf!

Good to have you with us! That is a WUNNNNNderful clip, isn't it, especially when you consider it - or rather, savor it, in context! For me, I wasn't too happy when Springsteen embraced christie and called him a friend when he's nothing but a bully. But maybe Springsteen is just a loving, forgiving, inclusive guy. Maybe also, back then, you couldn't find two people to dislike this thug (except maybe for separate isolated islands like DU) and see him for what he is. Awfully easy to overlook all that stuff, or put it aside, when one is being inclusive and magnanimous. But look a little deeper and start peeling away the onion layers, and you may finally see what's really at the heart of it. And it bites and stings and makes you cry.

About calimary

Female. Retired. Wife-Mom-Grandma. Approx. 30 years in broadcasting, at least 20 of those in news biz. Taurus. Loves chocolate - preferably without nuts or cocoanut. Animal lover. Rock-hound from pre-school age. Proud Democrat for life. Ardent environmentalist and pro-choicer. Hoping to use my skills set for the greater good. Still married to the same guy for 40+ years. Probably because he's a proud Democrat, too. Penmanship absolutely stinks, so I'm glad I'm a fast typist! I will always love Hillary and she will always be my President.
