You remember Mitt Romney... He was the guy the Republicans eventually agreed on without actually liking him, because he was the only one they could ALL agree on.
"Mitt Romney... eh, I'll vote for him because he belongs to my party I guess"
EDIT:
There's seems to be a major misunderstanding. I meant, what if the Democrats end up with a candidate who has won the primary solely on the merit that he/she is the least-hated candidate.

(32,091 posts)Mr. 47% isnt crude or cruel enough for the 30% of the population who worships Don the Con. Plus, Mitt talks in complete sentences and appears to sound educated.

(58,785 posts)The Republicans should be a 1/1000th so fortunate. Theyve not all gone crazy and morally bankrupt. They have no decent conservative choice at all, and that certainly includes the Koch brothers buddy or a zealous fundamentalist servant of his Mormon god like Romney. God!
Speaking of, my best guess is Romney is waiting for God to draft him.

(11,156 posts)I think the poster meant: What if the Democrats end up with a Mitt Romney as their candidate? The fear is what may result in picking the candidate we think is the only one that can beat rump. I don't buy into that narrative. I really think this is the time to make bold choices, not safe ones.

(15,320 posts)I think we actually have two Romneys, Biden and Bernie, and they will whack away at each other while either Warren or Harris waltzes right past them to the top.

(31,907 posts)That the 'times and base have changed'.
The Obama v Romney match up was 7 years ago - it will be 8 next year.
If the times have changed that radically- then we can't use any prior election as a litmus test or an example.
