I rather rebuild the Obama coalition with any combination of Biden, Harris, Booker, Pete or Beto.*

We don't have to chase white nationalist votes. They have a home and it's the Republican party.

That wasn't on display in the audience reaction to his interview at She: The People.

https://www.theroot.com/bernie-sanders-has-a-black-woman-problem-and-thats-goi-1834302198

Bernie Sanders has a black woman problem.

During an appearance Wednesday at a presidential candidates’ forum sponsored by She the People, a group that looks to push more women of color to the polls, Sanders was booed, heckled and looked a lot like he’d just bought a white women into his pro-black mother’s house, The Washington Post reports.

Sanders gave canned answers and struggled to win over the crowd of informed women, who have not only proven to be the backbone of the Democratic Party but have also proven to continuously show up and show out.

SNIP

This exchange between Sanders and co-host Joy Reid is quite telling:

Separately, co-host Joy Reid asked Sanders how he would win over Hillary Clinton voters, including black women in particular. In response, Sanders trashed Trump as “the most dangerous president” in modern history, and generally called for unity among Democrats as well as “social justice, racial justice, and environmental justice.”

That response immediately drew more hecklers, as Reid pressed, “Yeah, and for black women specifically?”

“I’m sorry?” Sanders asked, as the jeers became louder. “For black women specifically,” Reid reiterated.

Sanders responded: “Black women will be an integral part of what our campaign, and what our administration is about. Okay? And that means —”

The audience erupted with heckling for a few seconds, as Sanders tossed his arm up in the air in dismay and muttered, “Okay.”

“Were you finished with your —,” Allison asked when the crowd quieted.

“Yeah,” Sanders replied.

They already have the possibility of helping themselves instead of hurting and hating others. They choose incorrectly.

The correct response to shitbags being shitbags is not to try to make it easier for them to not be shitbags, it's to make it harder for them to be. And that means addressing head-on the fact that they are, demonstrably, shitbags, and making clear that we as a society demand better of people, no matter the struggles they face.

I'm all for a livable minimum wage and universal healthcare, but the problems they solve are quite simply not the underlying cause of white supremacy. They're excuses for it.

Can't have two nor'easterners on the same ticket, probably. It wouldn't do much good to have CA on the ticket. CA is already going to vote Democratic, and it looks like the two coasts, both Democratic, are running. That leaves the middle and south out of thinking their interests will be served.

JFK (MA) chose LBJ (TX). Northeast-south/southwest
Bill Clinton (Arkansas) chose Gore (TN) (I remember this was an issue...2 southerners; but one was in the middle & the other east)
Jimmy Carter (GA) chose Mondale (MN) south-midwest
