(49,395 posts)I don't expect many Dem contenders will hit him with old, tired, and irrelevant attacks. I'm certain Biden will stay cool as a cucumber throughout the debates, and glide to the nomination.
I'm looking forward to a great Democratic convention that will Make America Proud Again.

Too much at stake now to put up with nonsense from a meddling MSM.

(1,293 posts)was that he used nearly opposite strategies in those two debates and was very effective in both. In 2008, he didn't want to act disrespectful of the female candidate, so even though Palin was a buffoon, he was mild mannered and polite. Then, in 2012, he scoffed and laughed loudly at Ryan and claimed that what he was saying was "a bunch of malarkey".
I think Biden benefits from low expectations because he is often caricatured as being clumsy, but then performs well under pressure. A big question this time around is his age. Beginning a Presidential term at 78 is significantly older than anyone in the past. The campaign schedule is grueling and there just need to be a couple moments in debates where he doesn't seem sharp and it will be magnified. Based on his past performance, that may not seem likely, but through a long slog of campaigning, there only has to be a viral moment or two.
My favorite comment about Biden was after his debate with Palin in '08, Gary Shandling said on the Bill Maher show that he had prepared by watching old tapes of how Johnny Carson acted when Charro was a guest on the Tonight Show. I'm looking forward to his displaying some more of that style & grace.

(31,261 posts)Even though he long ago left that phase of his life. He does seem to have a deep level of empathy, which makes the issues that he had defending Anita Hill during the Thomas hearing that more perplexing.

(6,139 posts)I expect several candidates will drop out within a couple of months once Biden enters the race. He sure will make bernicrats very nervous but he will have to find a way to not alienate them. They are out in full force and even more aggressive than in 2016 and its just the beginning. I hope to not lose friends over it.
