Harris: There has to be serious consequences' for extreme crimes.

Sen. Kamala Harris Tuesday didn't definitively say whether she supports felons being able to vote from prison, but she feels "there has to be serious consequence for the most extreme types of crimes."

When asked at a CNN Town Hall on Monday if convicted felons should be allowed to vote while in prison, the Democratic presidential candidate said, "I think we should have that conversation."

Harris was asked to expand on her answer the next day at an event in New Hampshire, and she said it's a "complex issue."

"I'm going think about it and I'm going to talk to experts and I'm going to make a decision and I will let you know," she said.

This is the kind of thing the pukes will latch onto, apply it to all democrats, and chew on it until November 2020.

It's good that she can admit a need to learn more about a subject. It is especially refreshing after watching the current Whitehouse occupant for any amount of time! Reminds me why it is important to have as many perspectives as possible at the table. Blacks in this country know how over policing in our communities has placed many more of us in the system. It's a complicated topic. Good on her!

She looks like she's waiting for polling on the issue. I like Kamala but I was stunned when I watched this part of the Town Hall.

I'm not a political operative. Just a consistent voter. My ears heard what they heard. I can also guarantee that I'm not the only person who's heard her response in this way.

Watching a person "shoot from the hip" on complicated issues may not bother you. That's okay! Your life's experience may not have given you a reason to be wary of such people. However, it rubs me in particular way. I'm just one voter. However, I am also a part of the most reliable voting block in this country. Some candidates may want to take note.

If her background was as a health professional or an educator people might be quicker to excuse her uncertainty about voting rights while in prison, but she's a seasoned lawyer. She's trying to hard to determine which way the wind is blowing. It's becoming obvious.

It is also possible that criminal justice is a complicated issue. An attorney will have one perspective, lawenforcement, judges, and the citizenry also have other perspectives. America has never gotten criminal justice right. The undertaking of reforming this system will need to be painstakingly done with loads of care and good measure.

Dolt 45 operates in "feel good" (toxic) sound bites. The country and this topic needs a lot more than that.

Just over a decade ago it was abhorrent for any Dem to support same sex marriage. We still had two terms of President Obama. Now all the weak livered types are tearing apart at one mans defense of the basic constitutional right of all Americans regardless of whatever mistakes they made. We all make mistakes, that doesn’t make less human.

Perhaps people should start focusing on what’s right and less on what’s politically expedient.
