Warren shuts down donor dinners, insider access

In an email to supporters this morning, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) is setting a new standard for her campaign by promising not to attend high dollar fundraisers, dinners or cocktail receptions with donors and ensuring that everyone has “equal access.”

The Democratic primary is the time when we get to make choices—and make a difference. Democrats deserve a chance to choose a nominee whose time is not for sale to people who can write big checks.

So I’ve made a decision: My presidential primary campaign will be run on the principle of equal access for anybody who joins it.

It means that wealthy donors won’t be able to purchase better seats or one-on-one time with me at our events. And it means I won’t be doing ‘call time,’ which is when candidates take hours to call wealthy donors to ask for their support. As a candidate for president, the expectation is you make hours of these calls a week and attend dozens of these exclusive events every quarter.

Doing things this way will give me hundreds and hundreds of hours of time back to spend with more voters, grassroots donors and volunteers.

...but keep in mind that she was happy to take top dollar checks from 1%ers for her Senate campaigns (my wife is referenced in a WSJ story about her fundraising at a Wall Street law firm).

In a special/midterm or general, the alternative is a Republican. I personally don’t have a issue with candidates canvassing donations from the top 0.1% It’s what they expect they may expect in return that’s a problem.

There are multiple, credible reports that calls from Rupert Murdoch go straight through to Trump and that they speak every couple of days, or so.

Murdoch is limited to the same $5,200 that I am. What gets entree for Murdoch (and could apply to Warren as well) is the funding he gives to supportive Super PACs, which Warren can't control.

primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden
