Sanders campaign co-chair floats Warren for VP slot

Politico

Rep. Ro Khanna, a national campaign co-chair for Bernie Sanders, on Friday called Elizabeth Warren "an outstanding choice" to become Sanders' running mate should he capture the Democratic presidential nomination.

The California Democrat told MSNBC he would "absolutely" advise Sanders to name a woman as his vice presidential pick, and singled out the Vermont senator's colleague from Massachusetts when asked who specifically he would recommend.

"Maybe Sen. Warren," Khanna said. "I mean, I've said Senator Warren would be an outstanding choice. There will be other outstanding choices."

The words of praise from the top Sanders campaign official come after Warren declined to immediately endorse another candidate after dropping out of the Democratic primary Thursday — further irking some Sanders supporters who argued that she siphoned progressive voters from Sanders on Super Tuesday.

11. I wasn't even aware of that back in November. But the situation(s) are different...

Back in November the voting hadn't even started yet, so there was a distinct possibility that Biden could be the nominee, as could any of a dozen candidates. And he was asked about it: "At a town hall, Biden was asked who his vice presidential pick would be if he wins the Democratic nomination."

In this case there's a distinct possibility that Sanders won't be the nominee, indeed it's unlikely that he'll be the nominee.

Plus, in November there was still more than two months from the first votes, as of now 1/3 of the 57 states/territories have already voted and we have a much clearer idea about who might be the nominee.

according to the article linked above.

The California Democrat told MSNBC he would "absolutely" advise Sanders to name a woman as his vice presidential pick, and singled out the Vermont senator's colleague from Massachusetts when asked who specifically he would recommend.

Though you're right that it's a different situation... this was a campaign person being asked who he would recommend, not the candidate himself being asked who he'd consider. the latter being more of a statement of the candidate's thoughts and intents than the latter.

And while I don't think likelihood of being the nominee is a relevant factor, I'm not sure Joe's odds in November (with 20+ candidates in the race and not a single vote case) are so different from Bernie's today (one of two serious candidates remaining). But even then...

Okay, how about these...

from January: https://www.mcclatchydc.com/news/politics-government/election/campaigns/article239548008.html

or February: https://www.politicususa.com/2020/02/27/joe-biden-hints-that-kamala-harris-could-be-his-vp.html

Personally , I see no problem with any of this. But there are so many double standards around here. If Bernie (or someone on his campaign) does it, it's bad. If Joe does it, it's fine.

Nor that she wasn't endorsing Joe.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think Biden endorsed Obama during the 2008 primaries when Hillary was still running. Am I wrong about that?
