(2,716 posts)We filled out our mail in ballots for Elizabeth Warren before she dropped out. We hadnt mailed it as of yesterday. We checked with the county and got directions for changing our vote. Well drop our votes for Joe Biden in the mail today.
If we didnt have vote-by-mail, going to the polls would be a tough decision.

(27,813 posts)Everyone will be home with those giant ballots sitting on the table, ready to fill out and mail in. They started putting postage on them a few election cycles ago which should also help.

(2,120 posts)....mailed in or dropped off at some local drop boxes, usually at libraries. It requires one to claim a party membership, Dem or Republican first, them vote for your choice. The democratic side of the ballot has thirteen candidates (Bennet through Yang) and a spot to vote for "Uncommitted Delegates". The ballot instructions tell you that claiming to be a democrat or republican does't lock in for subsequent elections. Washington has had open primaries since forever, part of our history of the Grange and other Agrarian parties influence in our politics. When both parties raised a ruckus about it a few years ago, this was the compromise that they came up with. Repubs could still "ratfuck" us, but there doesn't seem to be any sort of organized effort.

(25,183 posts)for this year, it would require a legislative fix, and would require lead time that just doesn't exist.
I thought about this, could it tip the balance? Many of Joe Biden's voters are older, and would have greater fear of catching the virus than the younger Sanders supporters, who would seemingly crawl on hands and knees on broken glass to avenge 2016.

(31,261 posts)When I was a boy, people hung out at church and had conversations for a few minutes after services, lots of talking, handshakes, backslapping, ect. He could have created what can become thousands of vectors, and each of them will create their own vectors.
Thankfully Donald Trump, Mike Pence and Ben Carson are on the point.
