NYT article?
Democratic Establishment?
Elizabeth Warren's criticism of his supporters?

(2,193 posts)It's very disappointing.
We have a tight race and only one candidate is calling out the oligarchy, the horrible influence of PACs and billionaires on elections.
IMO, we let all states vote and support both candidates for their respective strengths.

(11,605 posts)Ironically, those demanding Bernie drop out and declaring victory for Biden when fewer than half of the party has had the chance to vote yet are making me more likely to vote for Bernie in my state's primary, even though I was pretty committed to not supporting him this year when the primaries started.
Like you said, both candidates have respective strengths and everyone deserves the chance to vote.

(68,586 posts)is fine. Everyone should choose whom to support...but if you are realistic, the states coming up are very bad for Sander with the exception of Washington...and with Joementum, he might not even win that one.

(11,605 posts)I have another 6 weeks to decide. I actually sent Biden a small donation at one point and haven't given Bernie any money this cycle, though I did in 2016. Then I decided earlier this week that I was going to support Warren (she was my first choice originally) but now I won't get that chance.
My main agenda here is pushing back against the media's incessant horserace narrative that screws over people who don't get to vote in the first 2 or 4 or 10 states almost every time.
I agree the map looks bad for Bernie right now but the map looked bad for Joe a week ago, and he won states he wasn't expected to. As did Bernie in 2016. Who's to say there won't be more upsets/shifts this year?
If I had to decide right this second I'd probably vote for Bernie, but not for the same reasons I did in 2016. I would have preferred to vote for Warren (or Pete, for that matter), but now that my choice is down to 2 old white guys, both of whom have significant flaws IMO, I might as well vote for the one who's a little closer to me ideologically and who has eschewed corporate money and closed-door fundraisers and proven it's possible to be a serious candidate doing so. OTOH, if Bernie gives any indication he's going to drag things out after the last primary like he did in 2016, or if he engages in attacks on Biden that are below the belt (like legitimizing the Burisma nonsense), he's not getting my vote.

(11,519 posts)First off, I get tired of hearing petty insults just as much as you and I wish it would stop. We'd be better served by discussing the pros and cons of each candidates plans for America.
But, given that, I think it's counter productive to decide who to vote for based on what a few of a particular candidates followers do or say. It's not exactly like one of the major candidates is going to make an appearance on DU and tell people that he doesn't support that kind of nonsense (and I still respect John McCain for shutting down that woman who claimed President Obama was a Muslim not born in the USA).

(6,377 posts)Being told by Bernie supporters that Biden needs to drop out, he has no chance, his results in Iowa and NH were so bad that there's no reason he should stay in the race, etc.
And they were immediately disregarded when we would say "Let's wait until South Carolina to see what happens." and were met with "His campaign is dead, he has no support, he just needs to drop out already, Bernie has this in the bag."
Now that Sanders' campaign is the one on life support, all I hear from Bernie supporters is "Biden supporters should be being nice and not gloat, this isn't how you win over voters, etc."

(2,193 posts)Should be higher, judging from the county count.
Only Marin, Lassen, Solano, and Amador counties prefer Biden, and not by very large margins.
