(33,349 posts)I cringe when I see actors waving firearms around. They're almost as bad as they are with vehicles.
Teach the children:
1. Don't handle firearms like they show on tv -- those are really toys.
2. Don't drive like they show on tv -- they're usually on a lowboy trailer; not driving, just badly acting like it.

(146,317 posts)in their offices and in the House chamber, I suppose he can get away with his pretty, decorated AR-15. Nobody's going to go and take it from him. He's an idiot, of course, but there's no law against a House rep being an idiot, I suppose.
Who's challenging him in November, though? That's my question.

(33,349 posts)The Senators and Representatives shall receive a compensation for their services, to be ascertained by law, and paid out of the treasury of the United States. They shall in all cases, except treason, felony and breach of the peace, be privileged from arrest during their attendance at the session of their respective Houses, and in going to and returning from the same; and for any speech or debate in either House, they shall not be questioned in any other place.

No mention of their offices. He might be immune from arrest, by virtue of that "attendance" part, but not sure his gun would be. Guess it depends on whether or not D.C. wants to test it. They might have more pressing matters than a wall decoration.

(146,317 posts)the logic is that they are always going to or returning from their house's chambers. If they are at their office in DC, clearly they are on the job, apparently.
Bottom line is that law enforcement leaves them alone. Period. He's going to get to leave his AR-15 on the wall. Everyone knows it's there, and there it remains.

The government isn't going to be taking away your silly looking gun, but if they did, they wouldn't send Beto or Joe to do it. They'd send heavily armed and armored youngsters, and you'd hand the thing over while peeing in your pants.
