Nina Turner vs. Hilary Rosen: "How Dare You, As A White Woman" Tell Me How To Interpret MLK Jr.

(snip)

Rosen told Turner, a black woman, that Martin Luther King Jr. never said to be concerned about white moderates, he said to be worried about the "silence of white moderates.

"Don't tell me about Martin Luther King Jr. Are you kidding me?" Turner said.

Turner told Rosen not to tell what King meant and explained that the "white moderates" passage was about those who are bystanders that are okay with not changing the status quo.

"What Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was talking about, he said it is the point that the white moderate wants things to be comfortable instead of focusing in on the bigger threat is not necessarily the white KKK member but more the white moderate that is more comfortable with keeping things the same," Turner said.

Nina Turner was correct and her points were too effective for Hillary's comfort, so Rosen was compelled to continually interrupt Turner.

Just part of the white washing of who Martin Luther King was.

Though I know losing again is probably deeply frustrating to her and other Sanders surrogates. When you get so deeply invested in a cause only to have it fail it’s bound to be a difficult thing to process.

correct on a technical point, which she was. (the verbiage appears in the draft version of Letters from Birmingham Jail which can be seen here: http://okra.stanford.edu/transcription/document_images/undecided/630416-019.pdf PAGE 10)

And the harm is not limited to herself and her own credibility. I realize Rosen was both wrong on the specific quote (albeit not on Turner's use of the quote) and pushed Nina's buttons, for which she should apologize (and apparently has). But, this is a pattern for Turner. A very unfortunate pattern. There is a reason Bernie has not been able to garner AA support. Nina Turner is not likely to help him with that.

It doesnt have to be by abrupt revolution. We were making good progress under Obama's Presidency and would have continued under a Hillary administration had she won. Now we have been set back years, maybe decades considering what's happen to the courts. Progressives blew it by not enthusiastically supporting Hillary Clinton in the last election and they could blow it again by not helping Joe in Nov.

The Real Hilary Rosen Scandal: Does Her Firm Sell Access To The White House To Powerful Corporations?
posted at 1:30 pm by Lee Fang

Hilary Rosen, a Democratic lobbyist and pundit for CNN, found herself caught up in 24-hour news cycle controversy after she made some inflammatory comments about Ann Romney’s work as stay-at-home mom. Rosen has apologized for her off-the-cuff comments. But the entire story may set off a greater, more substantive inquiry about the nature of Rosen’s consulting firm, SKDKnickerbocker, an unregistered lobbying firm that has become one of the biggest names in the influence business by using its ties to President Obama and leaders in Congress.

Predictably, Republicans have noticed that Rosen is a frequent visitor to the White House. While Democrats are arguing that Rosen is not an advisor to the Democratic Party or President Obama’s reelection campaign, then what are the meetings about? Today in the Politico’s “Morning Money,” reporter Ben White flags a deeper concern:

Per a senior Dem: “Serious Dem operatives are aghast at Hilary Rosen’s misguided attack on Ann Romney’s work history. She and others at PR firm SKD Knickerbocker have represented many clients that have raised hackles with senior White House staff. It’s an open secret in the Dem consultant community that SKD has been signing up clients based on ‘perceived White House access’ tied to prior relationships and employment.”

was a black man, so there is no way that she could possibly understand what he said! And, it goes without saying that Nina, a black woman , cannot understand Rosen who, as mentioned, is white. I guess whoever said "There is only one race: the human race. The rest is just culture" was a real numbskull, right?

By the way, it just hit me--- am a white guy. Should I even be in this conversation?
