**BREAKING A+ RATED MONMOUTH IOWA POLL** Biden 26% Sanders 17% Mayor Pete 9%

In a field of 24 announced and potential candidates, Biden holds the lead with 27% support among Democratic voters who are likely to attend the Iowa caucuses in February. He is followed by Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders (16%), South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg (9%), Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren (7%), California Sen. Kamala Harris (7%), former Texas Rep. Beto O’Rourke (6%), Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar (4%), New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker (3%), and former cabinet secretary Julián Castro (2%). Former Maryland Rep. John Delaney, New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, Ohio Rep. Tim Ryan, California Rep. Eric Swalwell, and entrepreneur Andrew Yang each receive 1% support from likely caucusgoers. The remaining 10 candidates earn less than 1% or were not chosen by any respondents in the poll.

you could explain just what those who refused to vote Hillary are unhappy about. They're not here to explain for themselves, of course.

But they got what they voted for in the GE and rather spectacularly sabotaged the nation in the process. They can't feel they failed to make a difference. So what is it? The REAL reasons, that is.

SHE didn't lie and claim her opponent stole every state where voters chose her, nor did she plot to steal the nomination from Democratic voters if they chose her opponent. Are they secretly angry that she was principled and the lies they soaked in so eagerly were lies? Mad at us because they're not the good guys?

Or is it guilt over throwing the nation to Trump being reflected back as anger on the person a majority of Americans, but not them, truly did elect to be our president?

Is it that they're STILL in denial about being suckered by Russia, Republicans and their own candidate? Are they blaming her and us for the devastating results of their own inexcusable guilt and stupidity, which are thrown in their faces every single day in the news?

All these would certainly explain, but never excuse.

has almost zero name recognition, unless he finds something radical to do, it's going to stay that way.

I lived in WA state for about 37 years, from 1969 to 2007, and frankly, I didn't know what he looked like until he announced his campaign. And I have a lot of friends and relatives back in WA, still.

It seems like it's always harder for governors to get attention and become household names than it is for senators, even though their experience is arguably more impressive. Senators have an advantage because their sort of power is capable of impacting the president himself, thus ensuring their names in headlines.

Bush was the son of a former president and also had the same first name as his father, thus he could build name recognition on his dad's coattails.

Reagan was a well-known actor before entering politics. Already plenty of name recognition. He had also ran for president twice previously by that point.

From the Des Moines Register:

The Iowa caucuses have a poor record of picking presidents, but they play the important role of winnowing the field. In only one instance in the history of the modern Iowa caucuses has someone finished lower than third and gone on to win a party’s nomination (John McCain finished fourth by a whisker in 2008). That’s the source of the phrase that presidential candidates have "three tickets out of Iowa."

Since 1972, the top voter-getter in the Democratic caucuses has gone on to win the nomination in seven of nine contested races, but just Jimmy Carter in 1976 and Barack Obama in 2008 won the presidency. Among Republicans since 1980, the winner of the Iowa caucuses has gained the nomination twice in six contested races, but the presidency just once: George W. Bush in 2000.

I personally like Biden very much, and enthusiastically would vote for him as President. I would say that among the candidates I know, he's near the top choice, although there are no candidates, except for Sanders, who I dislike.

On the other hand, the idea of a Trump state, Iowa, having undo influence on who the media selects for a Democratic Presidential candidate is highly disturbing.

By the time the primaries get to New Jersey, where I live, my vote will be meaningless.

We really need a series of national primaries in a run off setting. Small, conservative, rural states like Iowa and New Hampshire, choosing our Presidents are the ruin of this country.
