An Open Letter to White Liberals Blaming 'Low Information' Black Voters for Not Cleaning Up White Folks' Mess

Michael Harriot
Today 3:00PM
Dear Sir or White Man,
Im writing this letter, lurking outside the threshold to equality, peering through the same peephole through which we watched you enjoy 401 years of unfettered, glorious freedom while black people presented themselves as a living sacrifice, offering their necks to nooses, their skulls to batons and their childrens bodies to firebombs.
A few days ago, I was informed that some of you may have a problem with black voters who actually went to voting booths and exercised their right to vote for whomever the fuck they wanted. Apparently, anyone who didnt vote the way outraged, left-leaning white liberals wanted must have been an uninformed heathen, a moderate or, even worse, a centrist.
And now your fragile brittle hearts are broken into a thousand little pieces because black people have rejected the Buddha of Birkenstock-wearers during his quest for the presidency. And, by not choosing Bernie Sanders, Joe Biden supporters are somehow ruining America.
. . . much more. Really, go have a read.

African Americans have always had to be savvy voters. I would trust them any day compared to the uninformed know-it-alls that think only Bernie supporters should have a vote.
BTW, that isn't aimed at all Bernie supporters, just the ones so ignorant that they want to minimize the votes of black Americans.

I've been furious ever since Saturday because of the shit said about Black voters in South Carolina -- by people calling themselves liberals, Democrats, and the like. The wokeness is so thin you could scratch it off with a fingernail.

So they can afford to demand free college, college debt forgiveness and Medicare for All, because they have always had the basics, Black people want to consistently get the basics.

Many people are "woke", and the ones who aren't likely will always refuse to be. It's their loss, IMO. Of course, they don't believe the statistics.

(2,657 posts)then this posting from DailyKos.com made by Chitown Kev, a member of the Black Kos Community, posted this on March 3, 2020 (Super Tuesday) shortly before midnight EST:
[link:https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2020/03/04/1924156/-Chilecan-someone-help-the-uneducated-low-information-voters-in-the-state-of-Massachusetts|]
He wrote the following:
Chile...can someone help the uneducated low-information voters in the state of Massachusetts?
They need internet connections...STAT!
Its all so very concerning!
Yes, I am being petty, lmao
Right after Joe Biden won South Carolina, a number of Bernie Sanders supporters apparently said, wrote, or tweeted that the reason Joe Biden won in South Carolina is that South Carolina is full of "low-information voters". So, Chitown Kev was apparently joking that there must be a bunch of low-information voters in Massachusettes since Joe Biden won that state as well.
The comments in that diary are pretty funny.

(19,962 posts)This piece deserves a ten minute standing ovation. I mean that Bernie interview last night was peak dude bros. Now to all you so called woke black folks ripping us establishment low information stuck on the plantation black voters
I have some questions: After hearing Vermont Jesus last night say Jim Clyburn and I dont share the same politics why in the ever loving fuck would any black person that fought for the right to vote, live and work in this country support that crotchety old fuck?
Also why should anyone support the man that wanted to primary the first black man to hold the office he is so desperate to hold?
Oh Irony alert 50 Stents now has the fucking gall to use Barack in an ad in Florida? I mean there is shameless and then there is Lord Maple From Burlington.
Other questions, why did he not have a job prior to forty?
Why did he leave diverse Brooklyn to take his pasty flat ass to Vermont?
Where is he getting his money from?
If you dumb ass cargo short wearing, white reggae band listening fake ass revolutionaries think your $27 have helped this lazy ass grifter run for office for FOUR YEARS you are a special brand of dumbass.

(51,574 posts)Maybe theyre voting on Bidens ability alone. You act as if black people arent aware that, in 30 years, your boy hasnt written a single piece of successful legislation. In three decades, what has Sanders ever achieved? What has he ever done that improved the lives of black people?
Or white people?

(11,949 posts)He appeals to what he knows. College educated white folks in New England.
The whole free college thing is a good example. Most people I know who went to college dont have huge debt. Because they went to state schools which do not cost $60,000 a year. Or semester. I just dont know many folks who went to private schools that cost that much. Except two of my best friends, one who I have been greatest friend for 42 years. He went to a very expensive school. And now makes a shit-ton of Money because he got a MBA at an Ivy League school. His debt is long paid. The other got an Ivy League law degree. A good value for the money.
We need to increase college aid for families from low income families. Not kids from upper middle class families to send their kids to Vanderbilt.

(7,947 posts)In most states, you can take your gen-ed courses at the CC and transfer the credits to a 4-year college. It's really cost-effective, and will benefit students even more if the tuition is free.

(56,582 posts)Much bigger issues are foregoing 4 years of income, finding childcare, arranging transportation, and -- biggest of all -- the pipeline and recruiting failure to even reach poor people to begin with. College started out as a class signal and its purpose unfortunately hasn't changed that much over the centuries.

Imagine black people ever having the choice to opt-out of the status quo. Sanders political failings are his own, and black people are not here to channel the political yearnings of white progressives. We are not here to carry your water or clean up your mess. Its not that black people dont believe you...
