Democratic Primaries

and tells David Axelrod Biden so crush him due go his Castro remarks. Let's hope Joes goes for the knockout punch in next couple of weeks. We are finished if Sanders gets the nomination. I'm growing tired of his dissing our party and leaders.

(42,862 posts)How humiliating for him. (But you know, I think that Jane Sanders is secretly RELIEVED that this will all be over soon.)

(15,137 posts)Last night on his interview with Rachel, he really seemed like he was only listening to his supporters and not facing the facts of the current electorate. Even after she gave him the statistics for the primaries thus far, he insisted that he would bring in all these magical new young voters who haven't turned out for him in the primaries.
I hope Joe Biden has a commanding lead well before the convention so that it's a non-issue.

(1,803 posts)He was my mayor once and I supported him. But I will never again after his antics in 2016. I KNOW that I am not alone, and Im a progressive and a life-long Dem. What does that say about Bernies chances with anti-Trump Republicans or independents?
Maybe Id hold my nose and vote for him to get rid of Trump, but a Sanders Presidency would be another 4-yr disaster and wed lose any chance at taking the Senate back. Sanders needs to return to Vermont and continue serving in the Senate. If he actually cared about the Country hed without question serve as a Democrat rather than as an Independent. Id like to see someone ask now if he would do that. Id like to see him squirm to avoid answering the question.

(6,548 posts)He and his direct surrogates (not counting twitter bots, which I ignore) continually attack and offend his Dem allies and their supporters, in subtle and not-so-subtle ways, on a regular basis. Everyone else completes without going too far down that road. Clearly the rest have some fences to mend, but Sanders has chosen to alienate himself from the rest, and instead of just damaging the fence lines to stake out territory, has built a wall. I consider myself progressive, just switched from Liz, but I wouldn't vote for Sanders unless the only choice was him or Trump.

(42,862 posts)It's DISHONEST to say that Democrats are "ideologically bankrupt". It's DISHONEST to say that Democrats are "feeble". It's DISHONEST to say that Democrats are "corrupt". It's DISHONEST to say that the Democratic party is an "absolute failure". It's DISHONEST to say that the Democratic party is "the party of the one-percent". It's DISHONEST to say that the Democratic party is the "party of the elite". It's DISHONEST to say that there's "no difference between Democrats and Republicans." It's DISHONEST to say that Democrats are "do-nothings". It's DISHONEST to say that the Democratic party "doesn't care about climate change." It's DISHONEST to say that the Democrats "focus too much" on diversity. It's also DISHONEST to say that people who the refuse to vote for an African-American because of his skin color "aren't racists". It's also DISHONEST to say that the Democrats who "are very big into diversity" aren't "particularly sympathetic" to the working class.
What good purpose does it serve to promote this kind of dishonesty? It's divisive. It weakens us by creating resentment and suspicion. It makes new voters less willing to support Democrats if they're continually being told that "their vote doesn't matter" and that "the election is rigged" and that "both sides are the same anyway".
That kind of negativity generates apathy. Apathy discourages voter turnout. Low voter turnout gives Republicans a chance to steal the elections.
All I'm trying to point out to yous is this... you've got someone who consistently and continuously treats the Democratic party as if it were his personal sworn enemy... do you honestly think that it's realistic that stalwart and loyal Democrats would just smile and say nothing? Do you think that lifelong Democrats are going to stand there and be insulted and demeaned AND ALSO welcome him with open arms? Do you think that's realistic? What exactly were you expecting?
