'Biden can finish Bernie off in Michigan'

The next big state on the primary calendar is looking dicey for Sanders.

By DAVID SIDERS and HOLLY OTTERBEIN 03/04/2020

Super Tuesday weakened Bernie Sanders. Michigan may break him.

It was Michigan where Sanders engineered a primary day miracle four years ago, upsetting Hillary Clinton and imprinting his populist agenda on the industrial Midwest.

The result not only presaged Clinton’s inability to win over white, working-class voters in the general election, but underpinned Sanders’ argument that, in running again, he could succeed where Clinton failed in a race against Donald Trump.

One week from now, Sanders may not even win the state.

Even before Sanders’ woebegone Tuesday — marked by losses to Joe Biden throughout the South and in Massachusetts and Minnesota — a Detroit News/WDIV-TV poll put Biden ahead of Sanders by nearly 7 percentage points in Michigan.

Of voters who had already cast absentee ballots, the outlook was bleaker, with Sanders running behind Biden by nearly 20 percentage points.

And that was before Super Tuesday laid bare the full force of the momentum Biden drew from winning South Carolina, prompting moderate Democrats to coalesce around him and persuading many undecided voters to break his way.

She would have been much the better candidate in the GE, and a much better advocate of progressive policies. Not to mention--she has an actual record of accomplishment, and is a better debater to boot.

But Bernie sucked up all the oxygen in the room, all the attention, all the coverage that could have gone to her. Which is a shame--I was so hopeful and happy thinking of a President Warren.

Did you leave something out of the post I responded to? You said you don’t like Bernie. I assumed your vote was between Warren and Biden. Apparently you had rather throw you vote away on the meaningless republican bullshit primary than voting for Biden.

Do whatever you want. I could give a shit.

I gave an honest polite answer and you sprung voting republican on me. We are democrats here. We don’t vote for republicans when we have a meaningful race.

You tipped your hand.
