Im ready to chose a candidate

No secret I like Bernie's policies and supported him in the last primaries. I also didn't want him to run this time, mainly because I believe that a significant minority of Democrats have an irrational hate of him for reasons best not discussed here, and also because demographics. I like Warrens, and I suspect her policy is the closest to representing how I would be inclined do things if everyone spontaneously decided to put me in charge. I am personally impressed with Pete, though I was less impressed with his record and his policy once I dug in. I have similar positive if mixed sentiments towards the rest of our starting field, with the exception of Bloomberg.

This countries been headed in a wrong way for a long time. And to borrow an analogy: Weve been driving towards a clif. Bush put us on cruise at 65mph. Trump is flooring it hard. I really want us to turn away and move further from it, because this is dangerous. And most of our candidates, in my opinion, only want to slow down or stop the car, they dont want to actually turn the car around and head away from the cliff. So.. Id strongly prefer Sanders or Warren, as I seem them being the only ones who want to move us back from the cliff.

That said.. at the end of the day.. We can not have 4 more years of trump. That is unacceptable. I think 4 more years gets us legitimate full scale no holds barred fascism with everything that entails. And we Democrats seem divided as all getout. Trump and his owners love that, and will make full use of it to the detriment of our country. My fear is that I think if we lack a winner by first round majority, and especially if we deny a plurality winner the ticket.. we shatter our big tent and we lose the general.

So.. despite my preferences.. Whoever ends up with the most delegates at the end of the counting tomorrow.. thats my candidate. I will donate, i will call, I will push for them to solidify their wins in a way that leaves no questions that they are our shared candidate, chosen by our voters, not the party or an insider deal, or any other way that can be used by the Republicans to keep us more divided than we should be.

So.. thats who I'm supporting. See y'all Wednesday and lets win this thing and save the country.

Also.. Sidenote, since I dont OP much.. Whoever gave me hearts in the recent event, many thanks for the unexpected.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

1. Biden Versus Bernie

I think that the contest is getting down to the two of them. I like them both, for different reasons. Bernie because of his Progressive Policies and his fight for Working Class People. Biden for his steadiness, his years of experience in both Foreign and Domestic Policy, and the fact that he will take the fight directly to Trump.

I honestly would prefer Bernie based upon his policy proposals alone. I do agree with some people who worry that Sanders has too much baggage and will not be the strongest candidate against Trump. Biden on the other hand is more moderate than I would like, but he is the stronger candidate to take the fight to Trump.

For me I like Sanders but he is the riskier candidate. I am not sure that we can afford the risk given the terrible possibility of four more years of Trump. Joe Biden is the safer candidate. He might not be exciting younger voters with a grand progressive vision like Bernie, but Joe has experience, gravitas, and security on his side.

So, even though Joe and Bernie are both very different kinds of candidates, I like them both for different reasons. Bernie might be more exciting, but I think Bernie is the riskier candidate and Joe is the safer candidate. So that is my two cents.

i like him just like i liked obama from the first time i heard him.

Joe seems like a decent guy.

I feel like the evidence is at this point not with your hypothesis. People said the same thing about Hillary. She was the safe choice. But it turned out.. she was not. And for all the sexism, foriegn influence and other things that went into her loss.. I think the final straw was that the Right wing had had decades where they had been poisoning the well against her. Against all democrats, of course, but specifically against her. .

Joe hasn't had quite the same concentrated campaign of hate waged against him, but hes been around at the upper levels long enough he is quite well covered in primer for the smears that are coming to stick to.

And Bernie is not that far behind, after the last election brought him right up into the public consciousness. The second reason I didnt want him to run this time.

All of which to say, I think that Biden is the riskier choice

Regardless. Whoever has more delegates after voters have their say tomorrow will have my money and my volunteer time. And if i am less enthusiastic in my heart because the candidate isn't my preference.. Well, that will be between yall and me, and the Voters behind the doors I knock and the calls I make will never know it.

Because Trump needs to go.

Trump must go and we must support whoever wins the Democratic Primary. And we can't just support the nominee; we must fight for them and for the salvation of our country. Trump is a terrible nightmare, and a fascist threat to America and the World. Anyway, thanks for your posts and comments.

And I will do my part. but I think i better tune out of DU a while. The level of nasty trash talk trolling here really makes it hard to want to unify with some of you. Cant say I wont be back occasionally, but mostly, see yall on the other side. Hopefully with trump as unpleasant history not present threat.
