Want to change your vote? Some states say no problem

(CNN)In some states, you really can vote twice ... or even three times ... and it's legal.

But it will only count once.

While the process is little known and rarely used, some states do allow voters to change their early or absentee ballots with no questions asked.

The issue has received new attention because of the expected record number of early votes that will be cast in the 2016 presidential election. Some estimates are that up to 40% of voters will have cast their ballots before the polls open Tuesday, November 8.

In most of the states, voters who have already cast ballots need to show up to the polls on Election Day, have their prior vote nullified, and revote in-person to have their new vote -- and only the new vote -- counted.
If you live in Wisconsin, you can change your mind up to three times before your official ballot is cast and counted.

This is why I advised many people to wait until after SC to send their ballot in or to drop it off personally to the precinct on Election Day.

We were just visiting with some family in Arizona, and my dad's cousin voted early for Buttigieg. I feel for him - he came out about 10 years ago after being in the closet for most of his life. We didn't get to discuss it much because Buttigieg dropped out right before our flight, but I'm guessing Buttigieg's candidacy meant a lot to him.

I have been an election judge on several occasions. You cannot check someone in if they have an absentee ballot out but the election office has let me check someone after they cancelled that ballot. I doubt that this will work if the ballot has been received by the county elections office.

I am not sure if you can go to the election office and cancel a ballot.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden
