Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumPoll: Biden retakes lead in Florida
The poll shows Biden pulling ahead of the pack in the Sunshine State with 35 percent support. Meanwhile, former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg fell into second place with 25 percent support.
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), who has taken the lead in polls nationally after back-to-back wins in the New Hampshire primary and Nevada caucuses, is running in a distant third in Florida. The St. Pete Poll pegged his support in the state at 13 percent, a sign that the recent traction he has enjoyed in other states isnt translating in Florida, where voters will cast ballots on March 17.
No other candidate registered double-digit support in the survey. Former South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg finished with about 8 percent support, while Sens. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) registered 5 percent and 4 percent, respectively.

(33,447 posts)It may be sacrilege around here, but if a Biden / Warren or Warren / Biden ticket took the White House, I could sleep as easy at night as when Obama was in there.

Democrats should have taken the gloves of with Sanders long ago. I hope it is not too late. All the Democrats I know have said they will not vote for Sanders.

(8,144 posts)and Russians will keep trying for Bernie. The double whammy of Bidens character and experience is coming through now.
Berne has never presented a coherent, substantive foreign policy vision and his lack of judgement in praising Castro previews what we would get more of in a Sanders presidency. Enough improvised policy positions and loose talk.

(42,862 posts)And so... apparently... this is something that's LONG been simmering. I found this:

Why would Kennedy's opposition-to and "hatred for the Cuban Revolution" elicit such a response from Bernie? That sure sounds like the reaction that someone would have if they have a certain "fondness" or respect or admiration for the Cuban Revolution.
It's pretty clear what he's saying and what he's getting at there. He even repeats it for emphasis at the end. What else could explain it?
It's really not a good look, and if nominated, the GOP will have a goldmine of material to use against Bernie.

I am still listed here as undecided and Joe, while I love him, has never been my first choice (or second, to be honest). But, I am a real, practical Democrat. I don't need to be in love with a candidate to believe he has the best shot of taking out the filth in our WH.
So, Joe got 2 more primary votes in FL.

(1,846 posts)As soon as we get to the states whose demographics are more like the US as a whole, Biden will start winning.
The Democratic Party is a big tent party.
Iowa and New Hampshire are irrelevant.
South Carolina should be first.
