Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumBiden has so little money and yet he will may very well take this nomination
Sanders has been running for five years.. building up his coalition.. using small money donations that do not have to be reported.. only donations over 200 dollars.. so that can be some pretty dark money...
Bloomberg can buy his way in.. pay outright for staff.. full staffing everywhere and buy up every commercial available.
Warren has had to float a loan.. she is not a wealthy person..
Realistically Sanders should be burying everyone else... and Bloomberg can bury everyone else
They aren't.. why is that.. because their message is not hitting home with the rest of us..

(5,376 posts)Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden pauses while speaking after receiving an endorsement from House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-SC) on February 26, 2020 in North Charleston, South Carolina.
2020 Democratic candidate Joe Biden hasnt been spending as much time in the Super Tuesday states as one would expect ahead of the critical batch of primaries next week and it could cost him.
The New York Times reported on Wednesday that state Democratic Party leaders have been taken aback by Bidens lack of ground game as Super Tuesday looms ever closer.
For example, the former vice presidents campaign has only one office in the delegate-rich state of California, compared to the 23 offices of primary frontrunner Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), who is expected to win big in the state and others next week.
In Texas, which holds the second largest trove of delegates after California, Bidens campaign hasnt been knocking on nearly as many doors as the other campaigns.
I havent seen anything other than the events hes had in Texas, Gilberto Hinojosa, chair of the Lone Star states Democratic Party, said in an interview with the Times.
The Biden campaigns outreach in other Southern states has been similarly light, according to local party leaders.

(22,879 posts)He has been at this for 5 years..and he should have this all tied up if his message was one that was hitting the majority of people..
You make my point.. Biden leads in so many polls and is doing it on his past job performance.. he does not have the money..
Nice to be you guys I guess.. you can blow all the money you want.. just like Bloomberg.
But if we get the nomination.. the party will pick us up.. so we work harder

(5,376 posts)But hey, look at the bright side, Joe should win his first primary/caucus ever in his three Presidential bids this Saturday in South Carolina.
He should savor that. Super Tuesday will follow in just 3 short days and he could use the bounce.

(509 posts)The donors that have been holding off (at Bloomberg's request) will move back to Biden as it will appear that Biden will be the best bet to be the "Bernie alternative".
Amy will exit after Super Tuesday (she will stay in to win Minnesota, then drop out)
Steyer will exit after getting <15% in SC and no delegates.
Pete might stay in through mid to late March, but with diminishing returns.
Warren has had a cash infusion recently and will stay in for a while. Which will help keep Sanders' numbers down, and probably cost him a sweep of California.
In the end, we'll get a Biden/Warren "marriage" of delegates in Milwaukee that will be over 50%. Some will complain for a month or two, but by November, that ticket will win big.

(509 posts)No matter how poorly he does.
Here's why:
As long as he is a candidate in the race, there are no limits to how much money he can spend. He doesn't have to funnel money through a SuperPAC if he is actually running.
So he can continue to run unlimited ads attacking Trump all the way through the convention, as long as he is in the race.
I predict Bloomberg will not run any ads that attack Joe Biden. Bloomberg would be ok with a Biden nomination.

I know Joe doesn't like that characterization, but I don't see how anyone can deny it. Its working for him.

(45,120 posts)The correct answer is only one of those bonafide billionaires made calls to Dem donors and told them not to donate to the candidates. But yeah it's Bernie's fault.
Thats the great question: Is, could Elizabeth [Warren] or Joe [Biden] or Amy [Klobuchar] or Pete [Buttigieg] have a break-out night that leads to tens of millions of dollars of donations, Yang noted. He then dropped a bombshell, explaining that major Democratic donors are, frankly, getting phone calls from Mike Bloomberg right now saying Sit this one out, I got this.'
If youre a donor, not donating is a pretty appealing pitch, Yang added, laughing.
Sorry, but could you say that again? CNN reporter Dana Bash pressed. Mike Bloomberg is calling donors saying Dont give to my opponents?'
Mike Bloomberg is calling donors, saying: Hey, just sit this out, I got this, Ill bankroll the whole thing. Just dont donate to anybody.
You heard this or know this? Chris Cuomo said, jumping in.
I heard it from a major donor, Yang replied.
Your donor? Bash asked.
Yes, Yang confirmed. A donor said that. And its a person who donates to a number of candidates, ordinarily, says these are the phone calls that Mikes been making.
