Democratic Candidate Buttigieg Slams Netanhyahu's Annexation Promise

Jerusalem Post
April 7, 2019

US Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg slammed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's promise to annex settlements in the West Bank if re-elected as a harmful "provocation" to Israeli, Palestinian and American interests, in a tweet on Saturday.

"Supporting Israel does not have to mean agreeing with Netanyahu's politics," Buttigieg said in an apparent attack on President Donald Trump. "This calls for a president willing to counsel our ally against abandoning a two-state solution.

Publically ordering our allies and friends to do our bidding is insensitive to their sovereignty. Privately, we can certainly be more forceful, but this is a Tweet. Smart and thoughtful leaders are careful in their public remarks, which is easy to forget in our current political nightmare. I think Pete's advice is spot on.

Especially this one.
