(90,346 posts)... are facts without dispute.
Search for Trump / Sanders [swing state] to see the swing state polling then compare that to other candidates.
Sanders isn't doing worse than Obama but Sanders has no widespread aspiration appeal nor an upcoming shock event

(471 posts)Though Bernie hasn't been my first choice, part of me wants to hope that a large enough majority will be willing to back him as a winner, if he wins the nomination. Winning begets winning? Worst case scenario, some of his policies don't pass through Congress, other than that, he'd be so much better than DT (as would any candidate of ours).

(18,402 posts)I'm more concerned that he will not be a good president. When I look at his record of ideological inflexibility, my-way-or-the-highway (all or nothing) attitudes, isolationist tendencies, disregard for social issues in favor of economics-will-fix-all thinking, and choice of people who surround him .... well, let's say I don't look forward to it.
Will Democrats line up behind him like the Republicans have for Trump, despite disagreement? Will there be stasis or more temporary rule by executive order? Will he be able to repair relations with our allies?
Winning the election is one thing (one would think a ham sandwich could win against Trump, but we live in strange times). The real goal is governing. And Sanders' lack of any achievements over a long, long career, his autocratic tendencies and lack of alliances among his peers ... all of these things concern me.

(471 posts)Even if the House refuses to pass policies? And not embarrass (nay, shame) us in foreign affairs? He wasn't my first choice, but if he wins we will still have a democracy.

(18,402 posts)He has not shown good judgment in foreign policy. He's just as prone to supporting autocratic human-rights abusers who happen to be on the left rather than the right, such as Ortega in Nicaragua, dismissing human-rights violations in Soviet-backed repressive governments everywhere, because he thinks the economic ideology just has to be right.
It's the same when he clung so tightly to the idea that the VA is the perfect form of health-care delivery that he failed to act on serious problems in the system until it became a national outcry.

(5,443 posts)and would have in 2016. But, there is a question of the House and Senate that is much more unclear to me.

(56,582 posts)Turnout will be the lowest in the history of Presidential elections, but this can be done.
The worry is what running this campaign does downballot in the House, particularly in the South.
